Raan Jay Fai: Bangkok’s Michelin-Starred street food legend you must try

Raan Jay Fai deserves a spot on our website, even though we haven’t visited yet—shame on us! This famous eatery got its first Michelin star in 2018. Owner Supinya “Jay Fai” Junsuta still cooks every day, doing what she loves for over 60 years. She’s over 70, but her energy and passion are as strong as ever.

Jay Fai is easy to spot because she wears iconic ski goggles to protect her eyes from sparks flying off the wok. You might also know her from Netflix’s popular Street Food series.

Her signature dish is the crab omelet: big, golden, and packed with crab. The Tom Yum soup and Drunken Noodles are just as good. If you want to eat here, you need to book months ahead by email.

If you don’t book, expect to wait in line from noon. But if you arrive after 2 PM, your chances are slim. Too hungry or closed? No worries—Thipsamai, another favorite in Old Town, is just a few meters away!
