On Koh Ngai, resorts tend to be pricier than you might expect, mainly due to the island’s unique and stunning setting. It’s easy to imagine that many honeymooners have already fallen in love with this place. Most resorts are located along Main Beach, but if you’re seeking a more budget-friendly option, there’s also camping—offering a truly back-to-basics experience. Whatever you choose, make sure to stay at least two or three nights to fully soak in the island’s relaxed vibe and natural beauty.

You’ll find most of the upscale and pricier restaurants at the resorts, which usually welcome non-guests too. Around the island, there are some cozy bars where you can kick back with a drink in a laid-back island vibe; prices there tend to be a bit more reasonable. There are no supermarkets or ATMs on Koh Ngai, so make sure to bring enough cash with you. While you can usually pay by card at the resorts, be prepared for extra fees. Keep in mind that prices on the island are generally higher than what you might be used to. Since there aren’t any supermarkets, you’ll need to rely on the restaurants and bars. It’s a good idea to stock up on essentials before you arrive, especially if you want to save some money.

Getting to Koh Ngai
The easiest and most direct way to reach this beautiful island is by land through Trang, then taking a boat from there. You can also visit the island by island hopping from nearby islands like Koh Lanta. Most people visit Koh Ngai as part of a four-island tour and stay only a few hours. Take advantage of this!
It is part of the Trang archipelago in southern Thailand, a group of 47 small islands. Besides Koh Ngai, the archipelago also includes Koh Mook, Koh Libong, and Koh Kradan.
Getting to Koh Ngai in low season
In the low season, regular boats don’t run to Koh Kradan. Our only option was joining a snorkeling tour from Koh Lanta and hopping off at Koh Kradan. Since regular boats don’t sail in the low season, you can buy tickets locally, but booking your bus and boat tickets in advance through 12go is easier.
