Nimitr Restaurant and Rooftop Bar: Where Thai flavors meet Bangkok’s skyline

Even before we were invited to stay at the beautiful 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok, Nimitr Restaurant & Rooftop Bar was already on our wishlist. Not surprising, because besides our plan to visit all rooftop bars in Bangkok and feature them on our site, several (Thai) friends had told us it’s a fantastic place to be.

And they were right! During our visit in February 2026, we had an amazing time there. To our surprise, we also ran into a friendly couple from Hong Kong, whom we knew from our stay in the W District in Bangkok.

Where in Bangkok is Nimitr located?

You’ll find Nimitr on the 27th floor of 137 Pillars Suites & Residences in Bangkok. It’s located high above Sukhumvit Soi 39, a lovely neighborhood in Phrom Phong. If you, like us, enjoy a mix of luxury shopping malls, quiet alleys (sois), and great restaurants, then you’re in the right place here!

The nearest BTS station is Phrom Phong, about a 15-minute walk or a short tuk-tuk ride away. The hotel offers a free hourly shuttle service until 21:00 to EmQuartier and EM Sphere, which are close to each other.

Architecture and design

The interior of Nimitr is designed by the Belgian design team LAGO Design Studio and radiates a unique Asian grandeur. Blue is the dominant color, reminiscent of the Thai night sky in the evening. Golden frames, chair upholstery with subtle oriental patterns, and striking central lighting complete the look.

Inside, you enjoy cool air conditioning, large windows, and a stunning skyline view. Outside, on the Nimitr Terrace, you sit comfortably in the warm Bangkok air, surrounded by the city. A special detail is the glass floor panel you can walk over and look straight down — exciting and perfect for an Instagram moment.

There are a total of 80 seats: 40 inside and 40 outside. We chose outside. Of course, it’s pleasantly warm there, but above all extra special thanks to the fantastic view over Bangkok. Pure enjoyment!

Hospitality & Service

We found the service relaxed and friendly. The chef, originally from Trang province, was also very kind and gave us helpful tips for our next destination: Kachong Hills Tented Resort in the same province. Despite the crowds, we were served quickly and well. Additional questions about the dessert on our special pool floor (see also our 137 Pillars Suites & Residences review) were handled carefully as well.

Atmosphere and its guests

Our tip for you, dear reader: come at 17:30 instead of 19:00. Nimitr is a completely different restaurant at sunset compared to later in the evening, and both moments are definitely worth it. The best moment is when the sun slowly sets. While you sit at your table, the city gradually changes from orange to purple and finally black.

Don’t expect a DJ at Nimitr; this is not a party rooftop bar. You’ll mostly see couples on date night, guests from 137 Pillars, travelers wanting to experience Bangkok from above, and groups of friends living in the city.

Dresscode: smart casual. For men, long trousers and closed shoes are required. Sportswear, flip-flops, or sleeveless shirts are not allowed.

The menu at Nimitr Restaurant & Rooftop Bar in Bangkok

Nimitr’s menu revolves entirely around modern Thai cuisine. This means traditional regional flavors are presented in a fresh and contemporary way, with local herbs and spices as essential ingredients.

The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Korawit Rungchat, better known as Chef Nat. His mission? To taste Thai identity in every dish.

Our experience during our stay at 137 Pillars in Bangkok (February 2026)

We arrived early, just before 18:00. The outdoor table reserved for us looked beautiful, and below us the city stretched out, ready for the evening. We started with a few cocktails from the Sunset Drink menu.

The sunset over Bangkok was once again fantastic to watch! Our first two drinks — “The Sun” and “The Moon” — were brought to the table. We fully enjoyed both the cocktails and the view.

For dinner, we chose the Nimitr tasting menu: a four-course menu for 1,500 THB per person. For each course, you can choose from several options.

After a small snack, the appetizer was served: Miang Kham with King Scallops. The juicy, sweet scallops were served on a black stone, together with crispy fried betel leaf (known from the typical Thai snack Miang Kham). Would we order this dish again? Absolutely! This beautifully presented dish was the perfect opening.

As a second appetizer, we enjoyed Yum Bai Cha-Kam Thai Wagyu Beef: well grilled and full of flavor! Then came the soup: Tom Kha Gai Yang, the well-known Thai coconut soup with chicken. I chose something special: Tom Sab Kai Mod Dang Pla Yang, an aromatic soup with grilled fish and red ant eggs.

Because we had already had a late and delicious breakfast that day — thanks to the fantastic all-day breakfast at 137 Pillars (read our review) — we decided to go for only one main course. Otherwise, it would have been too much; we really find it a shame to waste food during our many visits to dining spots in Bangkok.

After some consideration, we chose Gai Yang with Ma Kham sauce: a large piece of grilled chicken with tamarind sauce and various condiments. An excellent choice!

As mentioned, we had more than enough to eat. We kindly asked if we could have the other main and our two desserts the next day; after all, we were staying in the same hotel and knew exactly what to do with desserts at the most beautiful pool in Bangkok — on top of 137 Pillars Suites & Residences.

The Massaman curry, mango sticky rice and coconut desert tasted extra good at the highest hotel pool of Bangkok!

Our conclusion

Nimitr Restaurant & Rooftop Bar is the perfect place to experience Bangkok in a luxurious and relaxed atmosphere. With breathtaking views, modern Thai flavors, and friendly service, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable evening here. Come early for the magical sunset and enjoy the best this rooftop has to offer. Definitely recommended for lovers of great food and beautiful views!
