Khao Lak Travel Guide: Beaches, Similan Trips, Waterfalls & Tips

From the golden sands of Nang Thong to the peaceful shores of Coconut and White Sand Beach—Khao Lak’s coastline is all about space, serenity, and sunset strolls. Perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or simply soaking up the laid-back tropical vibe.

Time to visit

The best time to visit Khao Lak is from November to May, when the sea is usually calm and clear, and the sun shines regularly. All restaurants and beach bars are open during this period. From June to October, it’s the rainy season—the sea can be rough with high waves, and swimming is sometimes discouraged. For surfers, however, these waves are exactly why they come to Khao Lak. If you’re hoping for calm, clear waters, the low season might be a bit disappointing. Most beachfront hotels do offer swimming pools as an alternative. Some restaurants close during the rainy season, but many still remain open. The beaches are also quieter during this time, which can be a great reason for some travelers to visit Khao Lak in the low season.
