HANNIBAL Hidden Rooftop Bar, the Chinatown’s most unique rooftop bar!

If you’re planning a visit to Chinatown (Yaowarat Road), you absolutely MUST stop by HANNIBAL! We’ve visited more than thirty rooftop bars in Bangkok, but this is one we truly recommend to everyone. Original, intimate, and with an insanely cool view over Bangkok’s Chinatown. Just DO IT!

Where in Bangkok is HANNIBAL Bar located?

HANNIBAL is located right in the heart of Chinatown, at the corner of Yaowarat and Mungkorn Road.

Take the metro (MRT Blue Line) to Wat Mangkon Station. From there, it’s about a five minute walk. Of course, you can also take a taxi, Grab, or Bolt, but we find Bangkok’s public transport super convenient.

The entrance is slightly hidden among the busy street scene. We actually walked the wrong way at first — we went into the alley. Don’t do that. It’s easier than you think! Look for the Lotus Go Fresh on Yaowarat Road, inside the Pichaiyart Building where both Lotus and HANNIBAL are located. At first, you might think you’re in the wrong place, but just take the elevator to the 10th floor.

Very welcome!

We found the welcome very relaxed. The HANNIBAL team is friendly and laid-back. A nicely mixed team with a passionate chef — not surprising, since cooking runs in his family!

Atmosphere and crowd

Upon arrival, HANNIBAL Rooftop Bar really feels like a secret spot. Hidden inside a large building, small, intimate, dark, yet relaxed and free. Everything contributes to the atmosphere — we loved it. The bowling ball cocktails definitely add to the vibe (more on that soon).

Later in the evening, the space fills up quickly. Keep in mind that the maximum capacity is fifty people, including standing guests. Full really means full here. The largest couch fits six people.

The crowd consists of Thai locals, expats, and mainly tourists who’ve heard about this unique rooftop bar and come for a drink. When we arrived early in the evening, there was no DJ yet, but as we were leaving, the DJ had just started playing. Live DJ sets start every night from 8 PM on.

The menu is small but offers enough variety. On the drinks list, you’ll find standard cocktails and other beverages, plus several specials including signature cocktails.

Our January 2026 experience

When we walked in, we immediately saw something special: a cocktail served in a bowling ball! Under the motto “not shaken, not stirred,” we obviously had to try it.

There’s a version for men (Roller Boy) and one for women (Roller Girl). Let those balls roll — literally! Thanks to the sloped floor, the ball naturally rolls downward. Super original and definitely a cocktail you should order here, even just for the experience.

We really enjoyed HANNIBAL’s Blood. The bartender mixes mezcal, tequila, hibiscus, and citrus into a smoky, powerful blend that, according to the menu, symbolizes courage and victory. The Fata Morgana with Havana rum, blue curaçao, yuzu, mango, and guava was also delicious. Definitely ask for the spicy version with chili and basil for an extra kick.

Prefer something sweet and summery? Order the Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri.

The bar bites were surprisingly good — we tried almost all of them:

• Beef with chimichurri and beef with Jim Jaw sauce — both served with French fries
• Freshly baked focaccia (daily)
• Coconut chicken, lightly spicy and our favorite, plus chicken in salsa — both served with fries
• Shrimp in garlic oil with fries
• Tuna tataki with mustard and red onion

We truly enjoyed the two hours we spent there — not just the food and drinks, but also the incredible view, the unique location, and the fun team. This is definitely on our list to revisit soon when we’re back in Bangkok!
