Great that you want to learn more about us! We are Ilonka and Riel, two passionate travelers who know Thailand inside out. Since our first trip to Thailand about 25 years ago, we have been visiting regularly. Recently, we returned from an amazing six-month trip in 2024/2025.
Thailand captured our hearts from the very first visit. The stunning nature, rich culture, warm hospitality, and delicious food continue to amaze us time and again. That’s why we started this website in 2017 — so you can discover for yourself what makes Thailand so special.
With our years of travel experience, we are happy to share tips, detailed information, and personal stories to help make your trip to Thailand enjoyable, easy, and memorable. If you are planning to go to Thailand, you’re in the right place!
Riel about Ilonka:
Ilonka is always on the go. Whenever we arrive somewhere new in Thailand, she immediately wants to see what’s around the next corner. She enjoys visiting the well-known highlights, but what really excites her is taking a spontaneous detour to discover quiet streets, local restaurants and special places away from the usual tourist trail.
Ilonka is always exploring. Even when she’s tired at the end of the day, she’ll usually carry on for just a little longer: “Let’s just see what’s over here.” Her passion for photography and videography means she captures all the beautiful moments along the way. Thanks to these adventures, we know which places in Thailand are truly worth visiting — and we’re happy to share our personal tips with you!
Ilonka about Riel:
Riel is the social heart of our travels. He connects with everyone and is almost never without a conversation partner. He speaks several languages, but even when someone doesn’t understand him, he always finds a way to keep the conversation going. When we go out to eat, we’re friends with the people at the next table in no time. And offcourse, he proudly tells them about our website about Thailand. Sometimes I think, “Here we go again!” Because if you ask us for tips, we’re unstoppable. Riel is a born marketer and networker and enthusiastically shares our love for Thailand with anyone who wants to listen.
