The Tarutao National Park is a beautiful natural area in Thailand, near the border with Malaysia in the Andaman Sea. The park was established in 1980 and covers about 1,490 square kilometers. It is Thailand’s oldest national park and is known for its beautiful nature and diverse wildlife. The park includes several important islands, such as Koh Tarutao Island, Koh Adang, Koh Rawi, Koh Lipe, and Koh Nin Ngam. Koh Ra Wi: Clean, white beaches.
Of the 51 islands in Tarutao National Park, Koh Ra Wi is perhaps the one with the most beautiful beach you can visit. Many people take an excursion to Koh Ra Wi from Koh Lipe. It’s located next to Koh Adang, making it very close to Koh Lipe. Thanks to the positioning of these two islands, Koh Ra Wi is protected from waste, which results in stunningly clean, white beaches.
Great Snorkeling Spots
In addition to the lovely sandy shores, there are several great spots for snorkeling. On Haad Sai Khao in the southeast, you’ll find a small beach with a ranger station, where you can also grab a bite to eat if you like. Just ask a staff member, and they’ll whip something up for you right away. If you’re planning to visit Koh Ra Wi, be sure not to miss King’s Beach in the west.
This beach is named after King Rama III of Thailand, who spent several months on Koh Ra Wi. From King’s Beach, you can take a path into the jungle of the island, where you might just encounter some wildlife!
Wildlife of Tarutao National Park
There are about 100 bird species in the nature park, including different raptors. You can also see wild cattle on Koh Tarutao, which are descendants of those kept by the original people.
Long ago, there were many saltwater crocodiles here, but now they are completely gone. Various islands also have monkeys, deer, wild boars, and civets. Tarutao is truly a nature park! In addition to land animals, the waters of Tarutao National Park are full of life. You can find anemones, starfish, and many colorful fish of all shapes and sizes!
