Koh Adang: A snorkeler’s paradise

Koh Adang is part of the Adang-Rawi archipelago and is included in the Tarutao National Marine Park. Here, you won’t find crowds of tourists, but rather a serene environment teeming with nature. The island is perfect for snorkeling, diving, and hiking to stunning viewpoints.

Overnight at Adang Island Resort

On the stunning Koh Adang Island, you can stay at the Adang Island Resort, the island’s only resort. The resort boasts a swimming pool with a sea view, a restaurant offering a diverse menu, and free access to paddleboards and kayaks. The bungalows at Adang Island Resort are cozy and equipped with air conditioning, hot showers, and beds complete with mosquito nets. You’ll find various options available, including family bungalows and romantic beachfront suites.

Camping on the island: facilities, reservations, and tips

The island has a ranger station, a campsite, a restaurant, and a few bungalows on the south side. You can book the bungalows in advance through the website of the Ministry of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Protection (DNP). Unfortunately, that website doesn’t always work well. Tents can only be rented once you’re on the island; it’s not possible to reserve a tent beforehand. Just make sure to secure your tent properly, because curious monkeys sometimes come by!

Chad Cliff Viewpoint

From the ranger station, it is a challenging ascent of about an hour with limited shade, making it essential to carry sufficient water. The trail is uneven, and at times we required ropes for assistance. A word of caution: this hike is not suitable for flip-flops! Upon reaching the viewpoint, we were rewarded with a breathtaking vista of Koh Lipe in the crystal-clear sea—an incredible sight that every traveler to Koh Adang must experience.

The Pirate Waterfall

The Pirate Waterfall is a waterfall located in the jungle of Koh Adang. The route to the waterfall is approximately 2.5 kilometers long and takes you through lush jungle and along beautiful views of the surrounding nature. Be sure to ask locals in advance if there is water in the waterfall; during the dry season, the waterfall may be disappointing.

Getting to Koh Adang

To reach Koh Adang, you can take a speedboat from Koh Lipe or Pak Bara. The resort also provides a free shuttle service with a longtail boat at scheduled times. The crossing takes only about 10 minutes!

Entrance fee Tarutao National Park

The entrance fee for Tarutao National Park is 200 baht for adults and 100 baht for children. The ticket grants access to all islands within Tarutao National Park, which includes Koh Tarutao, Koh Adang, Koh Ra Wi, and Koh Lipe. Additionally, there are several smaller and popular islets, such as Koh Khai, Koh Hin Ngam, Koh Yang, and Koh Rang Nok.
