Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, Phuket

Since March 2002, the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation has been dedicated to protecting sea turtles and raising awareness about their threatened habitat. Located near the beach, the foundation educates visitors about the challenges turtles face in today’s world. With the help of sponsorships and donations, they fund habitat restoration, egg protection programs, and local “turtle guardians” who locate and safeguard nesting sites.

Each year during Songkran in April, one-year-old turtles are released into the sea in a moving public event. Many nearby resorts sponsor the initiative—but you can also support it by visiting or donating. A meaningful experience for nature lovers visiting Phuket!

Do you know?

During the opening of the Mai Khai Marine Turtle Foundation in 2002, JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa and Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas together donated tens of thousands of euros to this foundation.
