Kalim Viewpoint, Phuket

There might be an easier way up. According to Google Maps, it’s possible to reach the viewpoint by motorbike or car—but take that with a grain of salt. We’ve been misled by Google Maps before. Some roads are barely accessible even with off-road vehicles, and hikes that look easy can turn out to be serious treks (we still remember that misadventure from Sairee Beach to Hin Wong Bay on Koh Tao…).

Our tip? Use Google Maps as a rough guide, but don’t rely on it entirely. Ask locals in Patong or Kalim for up-to-date directions—or simply embrace the journey and walk your way to the view.
