Phung Chang Cave: In the belly of the elephant!
Phung Chang Cave, located beneath Khao Chang Mountain in Phang Nga Town, is a captivating natural wonder renowned for its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Visitors embark on guided tours navigating the cave’s 1.2-kilometer length via canoe, bamboo raft, and on foot, immersing themselves in its serene beauty. The cave’s name, translating to “Elephant Belly Cave,” reflects the mountain’s resemblance to a crouching elephant, a symbol featured on Phang Nga’s provincial seal.
Raft and canoe
From almost every part of Phang Nga Town you can see the big rock in the shape of the elephant (chang). In this rock lies the Phung Chang Cave, which you can visit with a guide. During the tour you will use a raft and canoe. Another part of the cave you will discover by walking through the water in the cave. The water level depends on the season.
