If you’re visiting the Railay Peninsula in Krabi and love a bit of adventure, the Railay Viewpoint and Princess Lagoon are absolute must-do’s. Hidden among towering limestone cliffs and lush jungle, this short but intense hike rewards you with breathtaking views and a unique natural lagoon few tourists take the time to see.

Where is the Railay Viewpoint?

The Railay Viewpoint is located on the jungle-covered hill that separates Railay West and Railay East. The entrance to the hike is found along the walking path connecting the two sides, near the eastern side of Phra Nang Beach. It’s marked by a rope-covered, reddish dirt slope leading upward—a sight that often surprises casual beachgoers.

What to expect from the Railay Viewpoint and Princess Lagoon?

From the viewpoint, you get a panoramic view of both Railay West’s golden sand and Railay East’s mangrove-fringed shoreline. It’s one of the best spots in the area to really appreciate the shape and beauty of the Railay Peninsula. On clear days, the view is truly spectacular, with the Andaman Sea shimmering in the distance and dramatic limestone cliffs rising on all sides.

The hike itself:

You findf the starting point on the walking path from Railay East to Phra Nang Beach. The hike to the Railay Viewpoint is relatively short—about 10 to 20 minutes depending on your fitness—but it’s steep, slippery, and involves some scrambling and rope-assisted climbing. The trail splits partway up:

Turn left and keep climbing to reach the Railay Viewpoint.
Continue down the steep path to reach the Princess Lagoon.

Because of its terrain, the lagoon route is more difficult and only recommended in dry conditions. The ropes help, but proper shoes and caution are essential. Many visitors skip the lagoon and just enjoy the view from above.
