Café 8.98 – Our favorite café in Ao Nang

Café 8.98 ticks all the boxes: great location, fantastic food, beverages and of course coffee. Pust the very welcoming and open atmosphere. It’s even pet-friendly (outdoor seating only) and offers free Wi-Fi, making it a favorite among both travelers and digital nomads. After multiple visits over the years, we can say without hesitation: Café 8.98 is our favorite café in Ao Nang — and we can’t wait to come back.

Where is Café 8.98 Located?

Café 8.98 is located right in the heart of Ao Nang, on the main road that runs through town. It’s just a short walk from the beach and conveniently close to one of our favorite places to stay in Krabi, the Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort. Its central location makes it ideal for a coffee stop, breakfast, lunch/brunch, or a casual evening meal.

Why it our favorite café and why we keep coming back?

We first visited Café 8.98 in August 2019 and were instantly hooked. What started with a Mango Raspberry Slushie turned into a long-standing love affair with one of Ao Nang’s most consistent and stylish café-restaurants. Fast forward to 2025, and yes — we ordered the same slushie again. Still amazing! Fruity, fresh and served ice-cold — perfect for Krabi’s tropical heat.

What truly sets Café 8.98 apart is the atmosphere. Whether you choose the shaded terrace that overlooks bustling Ao Nang or the cozy indoor seating, you’re guaranteed a laid-back vibe and friendly service. The staff is fast, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The manager, in particular, is incredibly kind and adds a bunch personal touch to the experience.

Coffee done the right way

If you’re a coffee lover, this is your spot. Café 8.98 serves a variety of coffee beans, giving you the chance to try different flavors depending on your preference. Their house blend iced Americano is bold and smooth, and we’ve enjoyed many coffees here over the years. The 150 baht coffee & cake deal is excellent value, especially given the quality. Milk alternatives like oat and almond are available too.

Not a coffee lover? Try the rich chocolate shakes or freshly pressed fruit juices. That perfect balance of fruity sweetness and ice-cold refreshment makes it a must-try, especially after a beach day or a morning hike.

Delicious food!

This café is more than just a place to grab a coffee. It’s also one of the best spots in Ao Nang for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. On our most recent visit, we ordered the Bacon & Cheese Smashed Burger — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the steak tacos, served with two soft shells, flavorful Australian beef, and just the right amount of spice from the jalapeño lime crema and chipotle chilli ketchup. Simply delicious.

They also offer a tapas deal: three dishes and a glass of wine for 499 baht — a great option if you’re in the mood for something lighter or want to share a few bites over drinks.

We think it’s worth the price

Yes, prices here are higher than your average Thai eatery, but you’re paying for quality. Dishes are beautifully presented, the kitchen is spotless, and the ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully chosen. It’s also one of the better options in town for clean eating, with vegan breakfasts, smoothie bowls, and healthy options available.
