What makes Ao Muang Beach truly special is its remoteness and natural charm. There are no hotels, no restaurants, and no facilities. It’s just you, the sea, and the sounds of nature. If you love quiet beaches and exploring lesser-known parts of Thailand, this spot is worth the trip.

Exploring the beach of Ao Muang
Ao Muang is a small beach lined with lush vegetation, offering occasional shade from the sun. The sand is soft and pale, but the beach can be quite narrow during high tide. It’s one of those rare places where you might be completely alone—except for a passing fisherman or a few playful monkeys in the trees.
Just be aware: because it’s so remote, trash occasionally washes ashore and there’s no one maintaining the beach, so it’s not always perfectly clean.
The sea at Ao Muang Beach and its swimming conditions
The sea at Ao Muang is clear but rocky, especially during low tide. Water shoes are highly recommended for anyone wanting to wade or swim. During high tide, swimming is possible, but the beach isn’t ideal for children or less confident swimmers due to uneven terrain and rocks in the water.

How to get to Ao Muang Beach on Koh Yao Yai
To reach Ao Muang Beach, you’ll need to navigate a dirt path.
