Mango Viewpoint: A breathtaking view on Koh Tao
Mango Viewpoint is a unique viewpoint that can evoke a true love-hate relationship. This beautiful spot offers a stunning view of Koh Tao, but the path leading there is quite challenging. Despite the effort, the reward is significant: you can enjoy a magnificent view, especially of the west coast of Koh Tao.

View and creativity at Mango Viewpoint
At Mango Viewpoint, you’ll find a charming little restaurant with cozy lounge spots. When you order something, you receive paint and a brush to leave a personal message and your name. This turns the restaurant into a colorful collection of fun texts and names from other travelers, making it even more enjoyable to read. Of course, we also left our Thailand Magazine elephant logo! Have you found it?
Don’t forget to allocate enough time, as you can easily spend an hour having fun at this amazing location. Mango Viewpoint is the perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings of Koh Tao!

Don’t be misled: The path to Mango Viewpoint
There are several viewpoints and bars in the area, such as High Rock Bar and The View Bar. Some may pretend to be Mango Viewpoint and charge an entrance fee of 50 baht. It’s not uncommon for them to claim that Mango Viewpoint is closed or that the road is impassable that day. Don’t take such statements at face value; seek information from fellow travelers.

Entrance fee and stay focused
The choice is yours, but if your goal is Mango Viewpoint, it’s essential to stay focused and keep following the signs. You’ll know you’re on the right track when you spot the wooden gate and need to pay the entrance fee of 100 baht to enter.
How to get to Mango Viewpoint
By scooter
The route to Mango Viewpoint consists of concrete slabs and bumpy, unpaved paths. Since some sections can be quite steep, you’ll need to give it some gas to make it to the top, even though the road conditions may be poor. Some people choose to ride part of the way on their scooter and then walk the rest to the viewpoint. This route is only recommended if you have significant scooter experience. Remember, you’ll return along the same path (what goes up must come down). Keep an eye on the weather forecast—rain can turn the sandy paths into muddy ones!

Walking to Mango Viewpoint
Yes, it’s not impossible to reach the viewpoint on foot—many have done it before you! It helps if you have strong leg muscles and wear good shoes. You’ll be walking along the same road used by scooters and taxis, but it’s rarely crowded. From Life Koh Tao Resort, it takes about three-quarters of an hour of sweating to reach the viewpoint (one way). Along the way, you’ll find a few bars where you can take a breather.

By 4WD taxi
If you prefer to take a taxi (we did!), it will cost you about 1,500 baht. While it may be pricey, you’ll be traveling in a 4WD jeep. Since the road is often too narrow for a standard car, expect the driver to sometimes navigate with two wheels off the road. Prepare yourself for a bumpy ride!
