Koh Nang Yuan: Beach paradise for snorkeling and marine adventures

Koh Nang Yuan is a snorkeler’s paradise, and it’s no wonder why this stunning destination is a must-visit for underwater adventurers. One of the highlights here is the famous Japanese Garden snorkeling spot near Koh Tao, beloved by both divers and snorkelers alike. This vibrant underwater world is bursting with colorful corals and fascinating marine life. You might even spot unique creatures like scorpion fish and majestic manta rays gliding gracefully through the water. We saw a baby shark while snorkeling; you could also see them from the beach, so close, and the water was so clear! And there is more—there’s also a chance you’ll encounter a sea turtle!

The trio of islands that make up Koh Nang Yuan visitors from all over, and nearly every snorkeling tour from Koh Tao includes a stop here. Each island offers its own charm and beauty, making them perfect for exploration and relaxation. Stunning views at Koh Nang Yuan viewpoint!

Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint Koh Nang Yuan has a beautiful viewpoint that you can climb. From the top, you have a stunning view of the three islands. You reach the top by climbing a considerable number of steps. Don’t forget to bring some bug spray; there were many hungry mosquitoes when we were climbing the stairs. At the end, there’s a bit of scrambling over the rocks, but your effort is definitely rewarded! At the top, you have a fantastic view of the idyllic islands of Koh Nang Yuan!

Good to know before your visit to Koh Nang Yuan!

It is not allowed to bring plastic bottles to the island; if you have them with you, you must hand them in (yes, they check your bag!). Swim fins are also not allowed to prevent damage to the coral while snorkeling. It is also prohibited to lie on a beach towel because this causes a lot of sand to be lost (tons per year according to the signs). Beach chairs with an umbrella are available for rent for 150 baht per day. By noon, all beach chairs and umbrellas are often already rented out. There is not much shade on the island, so don’t forget your sunscreen!

Best time to visit Koh Nang Yuan

Time your visit to Koh Nang Yuang wisely to avoid the crowds. You can enter the tropical island starting from 10:00 AM. If you go around this time, you can often beat the peak crowds from the regular snorkeling tours. The island closes at 5:00 PM.

How to Get to Koh Nang Yuan?

A visit to Koh Nang Yuan is often included in snorkeling tours, but always ask to be sure! Sometimes certain locations are not visited if the sea is too rough. Price: 500 baht for a half day and 600 baht for a full day.

Lompraya Shuttle Boat, cheapest way to get to Koh Nang Yuan

Every day, Lompraya shuttle boats depart from the pier of Koh Tao to Koh Nang Yuan. This is a convenient and affordable way to reach the island.
