In August 2022, we spent six nights at The Stay Beach Resort on Koh Samui. This clean and affordable resort is perfectly situated between the quieter side of Chaweng Beach and the lively main street. If you’re looking for a great place to stay on one of the island’s most popular beaches, The Stay offers excellent quality at a fantastic price!

Affordable resort at Chaweng Beach

The Stay Resort is located in the northern part of Chaweng, nestled between the main street and Chaweng Beach. Chaweng is one of the most famous beach destinations on Koh Samui. In addition to its pleasant beach, Chaweng features a vibrant shoppingmall where you can enjoy shopping, savor delicious food, and sip on great drinks. On certain days, there is even a lively night market to visit. The Chaweng Night Market is situated right behind the Central Samui shopping center, which is less than a fifteen-minute walk from The Stay.

On the other side of The Stay Resort lies Chaweng Beach. In just a few minutes, your feet will touch the soft sand right from your room. A few steps further, your ankles will feel the lukewarm seawater of Samui. We often choose to spend a couple of nights in Chaweng when we visit Koh Samui. The small village is very close to Samui’s airport, and with a car or scooter, you can easily drive to some of the island’s other well-known destinations. Popular beaches nearby include Lamai Beach, Crystal Bay, Bophut Beach, and Choeng Mon Beach. Tourist attractions such as the Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem are also within half an hour by car or scooter. At The Stay, you are in the right spot!

Modern and stylish boutique resort

The Stay is a modern and stylish boutique resort! Much attention has been paid to the design, featuring a tropical theme that includes plenty of bananas. This design is reflected throughout the resort, making it unique. The lobby is a pleasant place to relax, and the OOK OOK Social Beach Club is especially nice for hanging out and having a drink, along with a snack. During our stay, we observed many happy faces at the resort, which is a good indicator, if we may say so.

The Stay Chaweng Beach Resort: Room Options

The Stay Chaweng Beach Resort offers three types of rooms to suit different travelers

Standard Room

The smallest option at 19 m², featuring either a spacious double bed or two single beds. It includes a small sofa and a bathroom with a shower.

Deluxe Room

Our choice, sized at 23 m², comes with a balcony overlooking the Gulf of Thailand (though it initially lacked chairs). The room has a comfortable double bed, a flat-screen TV, and a mini-fridge. The bathroom is clean and spacious, but the shower could use better water pressure.

Family Room

The largest at 28 m², designed for families. It has a double bed, a bunk bed, and a small terrace outside for relaxing.

Breakfast at The Stay

While you don’t book a room at The Stay Resort just for breakfast, it’s decent considering the price. However, the breakfast options are limited. Only Nespresso coffee is available, made from powdered coffee mixed with hot water.

Eggs are offered sunny side up in a warming tray, and there’s jam in a tray along with a toast grill. Thai dishes, like Pad Thai and Fried Rice, are also available and change daily.

The breakfast setting is pleasant, featuring a small restaurant and a covered terrace with beach views, creating a clean and spacious atmosphere.

OOK OOK Social Beach Club

When in Chaweng, visit the OOK OOK Social Beach Club! It’s a fun space overlooking Chaweng Beach and its sea. At OOK OOK, you can snack, order a cocktail, beer, or other drinks, and socialize—all in the well-known The Stay look and feel. You can go bananas until 10 p.m.

Choose The Stay at Chaweng Beach?

The Stay Chaweng Beach Resort offers a welcoming atmosphere suitable for solo travelers, couples, and families. Guests can enjoy amenities such as air conditioning and a minibar, complemented by fun touches like tropical wallpaper and banana-shaped pillows. The service is impressive; for instance, chairs were delivered to our balcony within ten minutes.

During our week-long stay, we found the resort to be a great value for the price. The staff were friendly and always available to assist us. One of the key benefits of The Stay is its location; it is situated just off the busiest part of Chaweng, providing a central yet peaceful environment. If we return to Chaweng, we will definitely consider booking at The Stay again.
