The resort offers amazing sea views and direct access to the white sands and calm waters. Surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees, it feels like a peaceful, natural oasis.

Centara Reserve Samui is just a 15-minute drive from Samui International Airport, making it easy to reach. Nearby are bars, restaurants, and the busy Central Festival Samui shopping center. Within 10 km, you can visit Fisherman’s Village in Bophut and the famous Big Buddha. Popular beaches like Lamai Beach and Crystal Bay are also close, reachable by songthaew—a cheap local taxi that stops right outside the resort.

Welcome to the first Centara Reserve of Thailand!

In 2022, we first visited Centara Reserve for a wonderful dinner at Salt Society, the lovely beach bar and restaurant on Chaweng Beach. The tasty food, great service, and elegant design impressed us. We thought, “Next time we visit Samui, we must stay here.” Two years later, in October 2022, we returned to this beautiful hotel, set in a green, palm-filled oasis near Chaweng Town.

When we arrived, staff promptly handled our luggage and mobile workspace, letting us relax in the spacious open lobby. With high white ceilings and light wooden colonial-style furniture, the area feels grand and elegant, wide rather than tall, radiating sophistication.

Check-in felt special. We were greeted with a refreshing lavender drink, a cool towel, and a colorful snack, setting a positive mood. A highlight was the welcome ceremony, where we floated a flower in the lobby’s water feature. “For luck, make a wish,” said the smiling receptionist. It was a charming and thoughtful start to our stay!

Service & Atmosphere

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Centara Reserve excels in service. The team, including the general manager, made us feel genuinely welcome with their warm and friendly approach. The interactions never felt formal but rather sincere and personable—almost like meeting old friends. This genuine hospitality made us feel right at home, and we’re already looking forward to seeing the team again. Truly, this is hospitality at its finest!

The resort attracts polite and respectful guests, adding to the serene atmosphere. At check-in, guests are kindly reminded to be mindful of noise between 08:00 and 20:00, which contributes to the resort’s tranquil vibe. Whether during the extensive breakfast buffet or dinner, there is always enough staff on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly. The exceptional ambiance at Centara Reserve is undoubtedly enhanced by the dedication and professionalism of the team. Compliments to everyone involved!

All about sustainability

Sustainability is a top priority at Centara Reserve. The resort reduces plastic and paper use, making the stay eco-friendly. Instead of printed materials, guests can find all information on the smart TV in their room—a modern and thoughtful touch.

We really appreciate the resort’s commitment to people and the environment. Their ongoing efforts to lower their ecological impact are impressive, and we value this responsible approach. Kudos to the team for leading sustainable hospitality!

The resort itself

Centara Reserve covers 33 km² and offers 184 luxury rooms, suites, and villas. The main building includes the lobby, restaurants, and a large gym, while a separate building houses the spa for a peaceful wellness experience. With buildings no taller than three floors, the resort keeps a cozy, low-rise feel.

The lush garden is full of green grass, blooming plants, and a vegetable garden. It has two swimming pools, ideal for relaxing. On the beach, guests can visit the lively Salt Society beach bar and restaurant, while a cozy gazebo by the sea adds to the calm atmosphere. Though the resort doesn’t have a private beach, its quiet spot at the peaceful end of Chaweng Beach offers a calm and lovely beach experience.

Located in one of Koh Samui’s busiest areas, Centara Reserve provides a peaceful oasis where guests can relax while staying close to Chaweng’s lively energy.

Various types of rooms, suites and villas

Centara Reserve offers 13 room types, from Deluxe Garden, Deluxe Ocean, and Deluxe Pool Access rooms to the luxurious Reserve Suite, Reserve Pool Villa, and the top-tier Reserve Ocean Pool Villa. We enjoyed staying in two of their exceptional suites: the Reserve Pool Suite and the Reserve Ocean Suite.

Each room has a spacious balcony or terrace, reliable WiFi, and amenities like a cocktail bar, Nespresso machine, and a sunrise-simulating alarm clock. Guests also get large TVs, safes, strong air conditioning, and plenty of storage. The stylish bathrooms have separate showers, and the rooms are clean and tastefully decorated with king-size beds. Even the smallest room, the Deluxe Garden Room, offers a roomy 40 m² of comfort.

During our stay, we enjoyed the Reserve Pool Suite on the ground floor with its private pool and the Reserve Ocean Suite on the second floor, offering stunning views of the gardens stretching to the ocean. Both suites were comfortable and elegant, making our stay unforgettable.

Our Reserve Pool Suite

The Reserve Pool Suite at Centara Reserve was a spacious, luxurious retreat. At 67 m², it had everything we needed. Close to the main pool and breakfast area, it was just a five-minute walk to our private pool. The suite included a 1.20-meter private pool and a large terrace with a comfy daybed, perfect for relaxing with up to four people.

When we entered, we saw a cozy sofa on the right and a stylish bar console on the left. Our host told us the three bottles of liquor—gin, vodka, and whisky—were free, along with the stocked minibar. With the cocktail set, we happily mixed our own drinks. That evening, we enjoyed a homemade mango cocktail and a classic gin and tonic—pure indulgence!

The next morning, after a restful sleep in the plush king-size bed, we made a fresh Nespresso and enjoyed it on the terrace. Relaxing on the daybed by our private pool was the perfect start to the day!

The suite’s layout impressed us further with a spacious bathroom beyond the bed. It had an open wardrobe for clothes and luggage, a double sink, and a shower and toilet with frosted glass doors. The shower’s sleek design and features stood out.

The smart use of colors, open layout, and elegant furniture made the Reserve Pool Suite feel spacious, cozy, and truly luxurious—a perfect retreat for our stay.

Our Reserve Ocean Suite

We also stayed in the impressive Reserve Ocean Suite on the second floor of an annex. At 80 m², it offers plenty of space, ideal for families or couples wanting extra comfort. The suite has a separate bedroom with a large bed and a living room with a cozy daybed and a bar. Both rooms have stylish bathrooms with showers, perfect for families with one or two small kids, as the daybed can turn into an extra bed.

The suite’s balcony is a great place to relax, with two comfy chairs and a peaceful sea view. Like the rest of the resort, elegant design and thoughtful touches add to the luxurious feel, ensuring a calm and refined stay.

Facilities offered by Centara Reserve on Koh Samui

The resort offers great facilities for wellness, sports, and relaxation. Guests can enjoy two beautiful pools, a large gym with modern equipment, and a wellness center for refreshing treatments. Plus, there are water sports activities, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The large swimming pool

The spacious, stylish infinity pool at Centara Reserve Samui, near Salt Society, offers partial views of Chaweng Beach. Designed for relaxation, it has cozy spots to unwind in the water. The pool bar serves tasty drinks and snacks, while sunbeds and bean bags face the beach, creating a relaxed vibe.

Perfect for families, the pool has a shallow area for kids that gradually deepens, making it safe and fun for all ages.

Another swimming pool

This pool is perfect for swimmers who enjoy laps, thanks to its rectangular shape and smooth surface. Located on the resort’s far side by Chaweng Beach, it offers a calm, peaceful setting. After swimming, guests can relax on the comfy sun loungers around the pool.

Both pools at Centara Reserve Samui are open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, giving plenty of time to swim or relax by the water.

Wellness Center – Reserve Spa Cenvaree

Reserve Spa Cenvaree at Centara Reserve Samui is one of the best hotel wellness centers. It has seven treatment rooms, including two for couples with private jacuzzis, offering a variety of luxurious treatments.

For a special treat, we chose the Bamboo Stone Massage, or The Rockery. This 90-minute session uses warm volcanic stones, bamboo, and massage, ending with a cool facial compress. It starts with a calming gong sound, setting a peaceful mood. Warm stones boost circulation, then heated bamboo rolls over muscles to relieve deep tension. The massage ends with a gentle facial using cool stones, leaving us relaxed and refreshed.

The spa team creates a calm atmosphere from the start. A refreshing jelly drink, scented spray, and herbal pillow before and after the treatment add nice touches that enhance the experience. We left feeling fully refreshed and renewed.

Reserve Spa Cenvaree is open daily from 09:00 to 20:00. Besides massages and treatments, it has a Beauty Bar for manicures, pedicures, and facials, plus a relaxation area, steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi—making it a full retreat for relaxation and self-care.

Activities for children

Centara Reserve Samui has a Kid Zone where children can play safely without technology. It includes wooden toys and a Montessori-inspired area that encourages learning through creative play. There’s also a water play area for extra fun, making it a great spot for young guests.

The Centara Reserve Kid Zone is open daily from 09:00 to 16:00, giving parents some free time while their children enjoy a fun and engaging experience.

The gym

Centara Reserve has a modern, large gym that stands out among luxury resorts. With over fifty Technogym machines, guests can do cardio and strength training in a spacious, well-equipped space. Refreshing towels, apples, dried fruits, and muesli bars are offered at the entrance to enhance the experience.

One of the best features is the gym’s 24/7 access—a great benefit more hotels should offer, letting guests work out whenever they want.

Excellent food & beverage at Centara Reserve Samui

What really sets Centara Reserve Samui apart is the high quality of its food and drinks. After being impressed at Salt Society, our stay deepened our love for the Reserve brand. The F&B team, led by experienced director Eytan, always provides excellent service. Their passion shows as they eagerly explain each dish, making every meal special.

Breakfast at The Terrace

Breakfast at Centara Reserve is a real treat—one of the biggest buffets we’ve seen. Spread over four rooms, it offers great variety. The first room has an egg and soup station where dishes are made to order. The second features fresh bread, spreads, and pastries. The third offers fresh fruit, juices, milk, and cereals for a healthy start. The last room serves a wide range of hot and cold Western and Asian dishes.

Guests can dine indoors or on the terrace under shaded umbrellas in a spacious setting. Each morning, we were warmly greeted with coffee or tea and given an à la carte menu with Thai and Western choices, from moo ping with sticky rice to pancakes with fresh fruit. The highlight was the warm, freshly baked croissants—sometimes served right at the table. A fun twist was mini croissants served as breakfast cereal, adding playfulness to our mornings.

Salt Society

Salt Society, the trendy beach restaurant and bar, is still one of our favorites. Our first visit in 2022 impressed us, and a recent lunch confirmed it. The larb with salmon and grilled watermelon are standout dishes, showing the consistent quality and skill here.

Beyond the food, the mocktails and cocktails are excellent, creatively served with a fun twist. In the evening, we tried the special Sangria—an interactive drink where guests make their own version with dry ice, creating a memorable and impressive show.

Tip!

Though we missed the chance to reserve, the Sunday Brunch is known to be a great event. If you’re staying in Chaweng, it’s highly recommended.

Even if you’re not staying at the resort but are near Chaweng, Salt Society is worth visiting. It’s open daily from 18:00 to 22:30, except Mondays and Tuesdays.

Act 5

Act 5 is a must-visit for meat lovers, offering a refined dining experience with a carefully chosen menu of meat dishes and tasty sides. The wine list includes a great selection of international wines that pair well with the food.

We began with chilled smoked salmon, nicely served with capers, red onion, dill, and sourdough bread. The Rockefeller oysters had a bit too much breadcrumbs and needed more seasoning, but the fresh, warm bread made a great starter to balance it out.

For our main course, we had a perfectly cooked 250-gram tenderloin and half a grilled chicken with rich red port sauce, creamy mashed potatoes, and sautéed asparagus. The large portion of hand-cut fries could easily feed a family of four. We finished with a key lime pie, balancing fresh and sweet flavors—a delightful ending.

Act 5 is open Wednesday to Sunday, 18:00 to 22:30, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Sa-Nga

Sa-Nga, the cozy Thai restaurant at Centara Reserve, is one of Koh Samui’s top dining spots. It offers Thai tapas with a modern twist. Seating is limited, so reservations are a must, but the experience is well worth it. Authentic Thai flavors are creatively made and beautifully served.

During our visit, we shared small dishes like Vietnamese spring rolls, scallops with red curry and pumpkin, Som Tam, beef salad, tiger prawns, larb with smoked salmon, Tom Yum with sea bass, and a chocolate-coconut dessert. Each plate was a visual masterpiece, blending fresh ingredients with bold Thai flavors, making the dinner unforgettable.

Sa-Nga is open every evening from 18:00 to 22:30, offering a refined and authentic Thai dining experience.

The Gin Run

For gin lovers, The Gin Run at Centara Reserve is a paradise. It offers over 35 types of gin and unique homemade infusions like wasabi and Chiang Mai strawberries, highlighting the bartenders’ creativity.

During our visit, we enjoyed the “Bloody Hand” cocktail, made for Halloween, and the “Tropical Fiz,” a refreshing tropical drink. Both were well-balanced, with just the right amount of alcohol.

Whether you’re a gin lover or just want to try something new, The Gin Run is the place to go. It’s open daily from 12:00 to 23:00, a great spot to relax with a creative cocktail.
