The Authentic Charm of Koh Mook Village

Koh Mook Village (Baan Ko Muk) extends from the Koh Mook Pier. Here, you’ll find a mix of restaurants and travel agencies. Despite having a fair number of amenities, the village still retains an authentic vibe. Koh Mook hasn’t been polished up yet; in fact, it can feel a bit messy at times (you might come across some piles of trash here and there). After rainfall, large puddles form in certain areas that are hard to avoid. If that doesn’t sound like your idea of authenticity, Koh Mook might be a bit too raw for you.

Besides grocery shopping, you can rent scooters, book snorkeling trips, and arrange transportation to Koh Lanta, Koh Kradan, Koh Ngai, and the mainland of Trang. There’s (still) no 7-Eleven on the island. You can withdraw cash at the ATM right across the smal Ma Kin Ni restaurant. As far as we know, this is the only ATM on the island. To avoid any early returns, make sure to bring enough cash with you!

Near the PK market, there’s a little school. After classes, the kids pass through the village on their way home, stopping for a snack. We can’t help but find all those kids in their uniforms absolutely adorable!
