Your go-to guide for Pattaya Beach on Koh Lipe

If you’re planning to travel to Koh Lipe during the high season, chances are you’ll arrive at the beautiful Pattaya Beach. This beach, with its crescent-shaped bay, offers calm waters, making it perfect for swimming. But be careful: the longtail boats that navigate these waters can sometimes get a bit busy. One major advantage of Pattaya Beach is its proximity to Walking Street, where you can stroll around and enjoy delicious food and fun shops.

The journey to the beach

Before you dip your toes in the sand, you need to go on a little adventure first. You’ll be dropped off at a pontoon in the water, and from there, longtail boats will take you to shore. For 50 baht, you can hop a ride to the beach. Sometimes, you can even transfer directly from the ferry or take speedboats right up to the shore.

Seasons at Pattaya Beach

If you visit Koh Lipe during the low season, the beach can look quite different. During the rainy season, Pattaya Beach often gets rougher due to monsoon rains. We visited Koh Lipe at the end of July and were fortunate to avoid heavy downpours. While we enjoyed our time at Pattaya Beach, we preferred the quieter Sunrise Beach.

Enjoy the crystal-clear water

The water at Pattaya Beach is a delight to swim in, especially during high season when the sea is usually calm and the temperature is pleasant. The sand is wonderfully fine and white, perfect for walking barefoot. Don’t forget to take a stroll, especially in the morning or evening when it feels cooler. On the west side of the beach, you’ll find shady trees that provide welcome relief from the heat of the day. If you want to swim, make sure to choose the designated area where no boats are allowed.

Snorkeling at Pattaya Beach

If you’re interested in snorkeling, be aware that there isn’t much marine life to see near the beach. A better option is to explore the sides of the bay or book a snorkeling tour that takes you to various spots around Koh Lipe. This way, you’ll have a chance to discover more of the underwater world.

Along Pattaya Beach, you’ll find a mix of luxury resorts like Akira Lipe Resort, where you can enjoy a fantastic stay right on the beach. If you walk a bit further, you’ll also find more affordable hotels that are not far from the beach or Walking Street. The dining options range from upscale restaurants to cozy spots with an authentic Thai vibe and a hippie atmosphere. And yes, you can also indulge in massages! Keep in mind that prices on the islands are often higher than what you’d find in Bangkok.
