Tawaen Beach: The most popular beach of Koh Larn

Tawaen Beach is the busiest and most popular beach on Koh Larn, especially on weekends and public holidays. It’s known for its pearl‑white sand, clear turquoise water, and how easy it is to get there. Boats dock directly on the left side of the beach, so you step almost straight onto the sand. There’s also a 7‑Eleven right by the pier.

The middle section of the beach is usually the most crowded, with long rows of sunbeds and umbrellas (100 baht). If you walk a bit farther away from the pier, it gets slightly quieter, though don’t expect a secluded beach. To the left of the pier is Sangwan Beach, a smaller beach that you can reach via the same pier used by the tour boats.

Behind the beach runs a strip of restaurants, tour offices, and souvenir shops. It’s almost always lively, and scooters drive through this area alongside pedestrians. There are toilets and showers available, but they are paid and not very clean.

There’s plenty to do on the beach. You can rent large inflatable rings, hire a jet ski, or take a ride on a banana boat. The water stays shallow for a long way, with clearly marked swimming zones, making it a safer spot to swim. Above the beach, you’ll often see parasailers in the sky, taking off from the hill near Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha Temple).

If you want to explore the rest of the island, scooters can be rented everywhere, either by the hour or for a full day. Renting for a whole day is usually the better deal, as the hourly rate is almost the same as the price for a full day.
