Koh Kood Gym – That extra bit of movement in paradise
Even on a laid-back island like Koh Kood, it’s easy to keep up your training routine. After some online research, we discovered Koh Kood Gym (เกาะกูดยิม), located close to Fix25 House, our first place to stay on the island. It’s a perfect stop for travelers who don’t want to skip their workouts while on holiday.
Expect a small, compact local gym with basic equipment: dumbbells, cable stations and a few machines. There’s no air-conditioning (yet), but three powerful fans keep the air moving — just enough to make a solid workout doable in tropical heat.
Location & Atmosphere
This small local gym is not far from Klong Mad Fisherman Village and Ao Taphao Beach. It’s the go-to spot for anyone wanting to stay active between snorkeling sessions, beach time and way too much delicious Thai food.
Don’t expect a fancy resort gym. This is the real deal — a simple, tropical, slightly old-school gym with a lot of heart. The vibe is totally laid-back, the staff is kind and helpful, and when it gets a bit busy, everyone respects each other’s space. We even got a few helpful tips from locals who train here regularly — super friendly crowd.
Tip!
Come early in the morning or around sunset to avoid the heat. Bring a towel and enough water. You can also buy water and rent towels: Water: 10 THB / Small towel + water: 30 THB / Large towel + water: 50 THB
Service & Facilities
The friendly owner or staff welcomes you with a warm smile. A day pass costs 200 THB, giving you unlimited access for the day. Inside you’ll find free weights, cable machines and a few cardio options. It’s basic but clean and has everything you need for a decent full-body session.
Extra tip!
In the mood for a Muay Thai workout on Koh Kood? You can take Thai boxing lessons here with an experienced trainer for 500 THB per session, including gym access. The trainer is available after 18:00, but you’ll need to book at least one day in advance.

Big Chai Tree & Makkayuk Tree
The Big Chai Tree and the Makkayuk Tree are massive, ancient trees deep in the jungle of Koh Kood. They’re over 500 years old and hold a special spiritual significance for the Thai people. According to local belief, when a woman passes away on Koh Kood, her spirit is said to go to these trees. You’ll notice several of them wrapped in orange cloth, and on one tree, there was even a dress adorned with flowers. It’s a unique, mystical spot that’s definitely worth a visit if you’re heading to the nearby Huang Nam Waterfall.
