Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort – A lovely resort at Ao Tapao Beach

At the beginning of 2023, we spent a few nights at the beautiful Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort on Ao Tapao Beach, one of the island’s most stunning beaches. Our stay was great: friendly staff, spacious and clean rooms, and lovely common areas. If you visit Koh Kood, this resort is definitely worth considering.

Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort sits right on the stunning Ao Tapao Beach, known as one of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Kood. It’s perfect for guests who love long walks on soft white sand and crystal-clear water. You can step straight from the resort onto the beach and catch amazing sunsets every day. Nearby, there’s a charming little village with everything you might need—restaurants, shops, and scooter rentals—so you’re never far from convenience and fun.

Rooms and villas with sea views and pools on Koh Kood

The resort has 70 rooms and villas spread across different types, so there’s something for everyone. The rooms in the main building are spacious and affordable, featuring balconies with garden views or partial sea views. If you’re after a bit more luxury, the villas near the beach come with large terraces—perfect for relaxing after a day full of activities.

Our stay in the Deluxe Villa

During our stay on Koh Kood, we were lucky enough to stay in a Deluxe Villa at the Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort. The villa, with a spacious 50 m², offered the perfect blend of comfort, space, and tranquility.

The location was ideal—just a short walk from the beach, lobby, pool, and restaurant—so everything was within easy reach without feeling crowded. What made the villa extra special was the large terrace and its very own plunge pool, perfect for cooling off and relaxing after a day exploring the island.

Inside, the Deluxe Villa was spotless—the room and bathroom were incredibly clean, which really matters when you’re on vacation. The bed was huge and super comfy, giving us great nights of sleep. The water pressure and hot water in the bathroom were excellent too, which isn’t always a given on Koh Kood.

The villa also had all the modern amenities you could want, including air conditioning, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, and fast Wi-Fi. For us, this resort is definitely a top pick if you’re looking for a great place to unwind in this beautiful spot!

Family-friendly infinity pool with sea views

The pool at Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort is undoubtedly one of the absolute highlights of your stay. This large orange infinity pool, measuring an impressive 25 by 15 meters, immediately stands out with its striking color and beautiful location overlooking the sea and the palm-filled landscape of the Gulf of Thailand. Around the pool, you’ll find plenty of comfortable loungers with soft cushions, perfect for relaxing all day long and soaking up the holiday vibe.

The pool has a maximum depth of 1.5 meters, making it suitable for both adults and children. For the little ones, there is a separate shallow area where they can safely splash and play.

Generous Buffet

Every morning, from 7:00 to 10:30 AM, a generous buffet is served in the large covered partly restaurant. There is plenty of variety, from hot dishes like omelets and fried rice to cold options such as fresh fruit, cheese, cold cuts, and salads. An egg station allows you to have your eggs cooked exactly how you like them. The coffee comes from a good automatic machine, providing a much-appreciated boost for many guests. The terrace by the pool is a beautiful spot to wake up slowly and enjoy the surroundings in the early morning light. Minor downsides like overly sweet juices served in small glasses hardly affect the overall experience.

Lunch with a view at your Koh Kood resort—pool, sea, or sunbed options

You can easily enjoy lunch right at the resort! Whether it’s by your sunbed, at a table overlooking the pool or the sea, or even in your own room or on your private terrace. From pizza to fried rice, curries to the classic club sandwich — it’s all on the menu. Of course, we made sure to order a fresh coconut at least once a day to complete that true Koh Kood vacation vibe. Lunch is served daily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

In the evening, the resort transforms into a cozy spot to enjoy delicious meals. Dinner is served from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM and often takes place on the large lawn next to the restaurant, with views of the sea and the sound of the waves in the background. During our stay, we enjoyed freshly grilled prawns and locally caught fish from the BBQ — it doesn’t get any fresher or tastier! The restaurant offers a nice mix of Thai classics such as green curry, pad krapow, and pad see ew, as well as international dishes like pizza and club sandwiches.

The Sunset Beach Bar completes the evening with an excellent cocktail menu and a mixologist who is happy to create something special just for you. Having a drink in hand while watching the sunset is truly a highlight.

Every evening during happy hour from 5 to 7 PM, we enjoyed a cocktail (or two) at the Sunset Beach Bar. The mixologist behind the bar is incredibly friendly and crafts amazing drinks. Even though the cocktail menu is extensive, we often asked him to whip up something “special” for us. His creations were just as impressive as the cocktails we had at the many sky bars in Bangkok. A true professional!

Ban Ao Yai is a small fishing village built on stilts over the sea. Besides giving you a glimpse into the lives of the local fishermen, it’s also one of the best spots to enjoy fresh seafood. This stilt village is home to several fish restaurants. The pier is tucked away on the east side of Koh Kood, and the scenic drive there along winding roads is beautiful in itself. On your way to Ao Yai Pier and Ban Ao Yai, you’ll pass a great viewpoint where you can already see the village — definitely worth stopping for a photo!
