LE Jao Jom: Quality Thai × Japanese fusion dining by the Sea on Koh Chang
While Koh Chang is full of traditional Thai, seafood and western style restaurants, the international hi-so dining scene is rapidly growing. Among all these options, LE Jao Jom clearly stands out. Our curiosity sparked the moment we spotted their Instagram photos: an iconic seaside location, a sleek Japanese-influenced design, and a stylish interior right on the beach.
So, as soon as we arrived on Koh Chang in early December 2025, we decided it was time to finally visit this elegant seafront restaurant.
We had already heard many enthusiastic stories about this place where Thai flavors meet Japanese finesse. Two of our favorite cuisines, a highly praised chef and a breathtaking oceanfront setting… no wonder we instantly fell in love with LE Jao Jom!
The restaurant is stylish, unique and extremely photogenic. And the dishes we tried? Excellent quality and absolutely delicious. This is the kind of place you visit for the taste — but just as much for the ambiance and the incredible ocean views.

Where on Koh Chang is LE Jao Jom located?
LE Jao Jom is located at Pearl Beach (Hat Kai Mook), less than a five-minute drive from Koh Chang’s famous White Sand Beach. The restaurant sits in a quiet, rocky bay with crystal-clear water — perfect if you want to escape the busy beach crowds of White Sand or Klong Prao.
The sign is easy to spot from the main road. Turn in, follow the short driveway behind a green hedge, and suddenly you’re at a hidden gem right by the sea.
Whether you come by taxi, car or scooter: parking is available almost at the entrance. Thanks to the west-coast location, you’re guaranteed beautiful views over the Gulf of Thailand — especially during sunset!

Architecture and (interior) design
It’s no surprise that LE Jao Jom pops up on Instagram so often. The Japanese-influenced aesthetics catch your eye instantly: a mini bamboo garden at the entrance, a cute shop with Japanese lucky cats, parasols on the ceiling and huge windows overlooking the ocean.

We immediately noticed the three terrace levels that gradually slope toward the water, meaning almost every table has a sea view — even though it gets dark early in Thailand.
The design feels chic but absolutely not stiff. Long glossy tables, wide cushioned seating — just one small note: for us the table-to-sofa distance was slightly too high.

Still, this is the perfect place to escape the midday heat for lunch, dessert, cake or a good milkshake. Or — like we did — settle in for dinner while the evening rolls in.
We missed the sunset this time… but trust us: from LE Jao Jom it must be stunning. A perfect reason to come back!
Ambience & Atmosphere
We can’t say much about the typical atmosphere, as we happened to be the only guests that night. But based on many online reviews, this spot is popular with trendy Thais, honeymooners and foodies who come for both flavor and setting.
The sunsets here seem truly spectacular — judging from all the beautiful social media photos we’ve seen. And even with the entire venue to ourselves, we could feel how relaxed and romantic this place normally must be.
The staff is polite, attentive and takes time to introduce each dish — something that definitely enhances the warm hospitality at LE Jao Jom Koh Chang.
Tip!
Dine during the golden hour and make sure to be there around 5:00 PM for the best view.

How is the service & hospitality at LE Jao Jom?
The service team at LE Jao Jom is warm, professional and personal — without a hint of stiffness. They are proactive, thoughtful (also with dietary needs), provide pairing suggestions and keep an eye on everything.

The service level truly matches the refined dining experience.

Chef Boonchana — A Chef with vision
The owner and head chef cooks together with his brigade — and you can taste the passion. He cooks stars-worthy dishes that beautifully bridge Thai ingredients and Japanese techniques.
Think local ingredients like lemongrass, kaffir lime and chili combined with elegant Japanese precision and plating. This fusion style makes LE Jao Jom one of the most distinctive culinary restaurants on Koh Chang today.
Quality and presentation are both top-tier — every dish looks ready for the spotlight (and Instagram 😉).

Lunch, dinner & coffee with cake
LE Jao Jom is open 12:00–22:00, offering coffee, dessert, lunch and dinner — all by the sea.
Guest favorites include:
- Spaghetti with black truffle & scallops

Our experience during our visit in November 2025
On our second day on Koh Chang we were invited for an Asian Family Sharing Dinner. No menu decisions needed — we simply let the chef surprise us with various dishes to share.
Starters
- Jao Jom Pearl (our favorite!)
Crispy crazy looking shrimp balls — think Thai shrimp cakes 2.0 — with dipping sauces including wasabi mayo. - Grilled Hokkaido scallops
Soft yet firm, topped with edible gold and served with refreshing yuzu sauce. - Vegetable spring rolls
Simple, crunchy, with a sweet-sour dip and a tiny chili kick.
Presentation? Top-notch.
Taste? Guaranteed success.

Main Dishes
- Local fish (fresh catch of the day) in a sweet-salty-spicy sauce
Still crispy when laying in the tasty sauce, even when the dish is being kept warm over a small flame — such thoughtful service! - Panang curry with super tender beef & Nam Dok Mai mango
Our favorite main — slow cooked beef + sweet mango = must-try! - Stir-fried sugar snaps with shrimp
Crunchy snow peas aka sugar snaps, juicy plum and sweet shrimps — perfect balance beside the richer mains.

Dessert
Crêpe Suzette with intense orange sauce, vanilla ice cream & whipped cream.
Classic but refreshing — exactly what we needed after curry!
And yes… a cappuccino afterwards — we know, all purist Italians… please don’t come for us 😜

Drinks
We started with two cocktails:
- Ruby Jao Jom — tequila, citrus, pomegranate & roselle. Deep red, fruity, elegant.
- Mojito — ice-cold refreshment after a hot Koh Chang day. Nothing wrong about that!

With the mains we had a Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile — simple, dry, fruity and a surprisingly good match with the Panang.
We also ordered a Tom Yam cocktail — mixed at our table with lemongrass, chili and kaffir lime.
A showstopper and the flavor of Thailand in a glass.
Don’t miss this one! 🌶️

Conclusion
LE Jao Jom proves that Koh Chang has a serious fine-dining scene too.
Sleek design, great service and elevated Thai × Japanese fusion — the perfect choice for oceanfront dining without compromising on quality.
A place where you’ll want to stay just a bit longer… and order another Tom Yam cocktail.
