Right in the center of the small village of Khao Sok lies the pleasant Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort. The resort has been booked by many western people in the past and, after reading the many positive reactions on the internet, it aroused our interest. During our last trip to the Khao Sok National Park, we booked a room at the Morning Mist Resort for a few nights. Where is Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort located in the village of Khao Sok?

The Morning Mist Resort is located almost in the middle of the village with the entrance to the Khao Sok National Park 500 meters away, ideal if you want to do a trek in the Khao Sok National Park but also nice if you want to stroll thru the village for a bite or just a walk. There are many good restaurants an bars around and our favorite one, Pawn’s Restaurant is located just 5 minutes walking distance away.

The nice thing of Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort is that at the far end of the terrain the Sok River flows.

Swimming Pool and Misty Restaurant

How nice is it after a trekking in the jungle or just during a hot day to splash in the pool and chill on a sunbed? At the Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort this is possible! The small but nice swimming pool is surrounded by the tropical garden with beautiful flowers and fruit trees where the restaurant is located near the swimming pool. A cocktail, fresh fruit juice / shake or other cool drink is easily arranged! The swimming pool is 1.50 meters deep and open from 07.00 – 19.30 hours, bath towels are available at the reception.

The Misty Restaurant offers a beautiful view on the surroundings and here you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. A nice and cozy restaurant opposite the Morning Mist reception. You can choose from Western or Thai dishes, there is something for everyone. If you get up early, for example for a lake tour or breakfast, you will understand why the owner of the resort has chosen the name Morning Mist. Certainly from the Misty Restaurant you can see the mist hanging in the distance between and over the limestone rock formations. A nice and extra perk during your overnight stay at the Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort!!

All the goodies such as the fruit and herbs that grow in the tropical garden of the Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort are frequently used in the dishes and shakes of the Misty Restaurant, making everything super fresh!

Tropical garden

Thailand is known for its beautiful nature such as pretty flowers and all the fruit that grows in the wild. But we never seen as many fruit and flowers together as in the garden of the Morning Mist Resort in Khao Sok. Fruits that grow here are bananas, papaya, long kong, mango, jackfruit, mangosteen and more! A delicious tropical fruit basket full! There are also all kinds of orchids and many other beautiful flowers, which we do not know by name, to admire here in the tropical garden! In the background of this garden you can see the high limestone cliffs typical for Khao Sok. Every time we were on our way to our bungalow, located in the tropical garden and at the end of the Morning Mist area, we were amazed by the scenery around us!

Sok River

At the border of the Morning Mist Resort in Khao Sok flows the Sok River where you can relax near the waterfront with a good book. You also can cool off here, especially during the hottest hours of the day. Beware of slippery stones and strong currents that can occur in the rainy season! The swimming pool may be a better option, especially for (small) children. If necessary, get informed at the reception of the resort.

Afforable bungalows at Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort

The Morning Mist Resort in Khao Sok has nine different bungalows in different price ranges and types. All bungalows are scattered in the beautiful tropical garden of the resort with some bungalows also adjacent to the Sok River. The cheapest option is the budget double roomwith a fan, hot shower and a small terrace. If you sleep here with two, it costs just as much as a hostel. The standard double rooms has a very decent price considering the good location in the village and including a swimming pool.

Good resort for families!

Although we do not travel with children ourselves, we think that due to the swimming pool, the location in the village and the affordable prices, the Morning Mist Resort can also be a great place for traveling with children. In addition to triple rooms, there are also rooms with two double beds. Preferring a twin room with extra bed? Morning Mist is very flexible and it is often possible to place an extra bed in the room in consultation and at an additional cost.

The bungalow we stayed in

Our two-person bungalow was located directly on banks of the Sok River, which means that the bungalow is nice and quiet and located on the border of the resort’s terrain. That may sound far away but in reality a walk to the reception, swimming pool or restaurant was only a 7-minute walk through the beautiful tropical garden. The room had everything we needed, a spacious shower, fridge, air conditioning, fan and mosquito net. Near our bungalow was a staircase to go into the river so that we could take a good swim. From our terrace with nice lounge chairs and footstool we looked upon the river, a very nice place and perhaps the very best place of the Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort!
