If you’re seeking a tranquil and rejuvenating retreat in Khao Lak, the TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort is an excellent choice. This adults-only resort welcomes guests aged 16 and above, making it ideal for those desiring a peaceful getaway. We, being over 16, were eager for a few days of complete relaxation, and this beautiful resort provided the perfect setting. It allowed us to unwind after the bustling Christmas festivities on Koh Phi Phi and recharge before our day tour to the Similan Islands. Below, we share our experiences at the TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort, and we can confidently say we visited the Similan Islands feeling thoroughly refreshed.

Location & Accessibility

The TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort is situated at the southern end of Nang Thong Beach, directly across from the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park . Nestled just off the main road that traverses Khao Lak, the resort offers a serene environment free from traffic disturbances. Its proximity to the main road ensures easy accessibility by scooter or car. On the opposite side lies the tranquil Nang Thong Beach, offering stunning views of the Andaman Sea.

In the vicinity, particularly along the main road, there are numerous cozy bars and excellent restaurants. A mere 10-minute walk from the resort led us to Khao Lak C-Nior Travel, where we rented a scooter from the friendly staff. The resort is also conveniently close to the Bang Niang Night Market; however, during our December visit, it was somewhat quiet. Nonetheless, there’s an abundance of attractions to explore around Khao Lak by scooter. In summary, the resort boasts a prime location, nestled between a lively road and a serene bay, allowing guests to unwind completely while still being within easy reach of local attractions.

Design & Architecture

The resort comprises several large and smaller buildings, each housing various room types. The architecture harmoniously blends modern design with traditional Thai elements, creating an inviting and aesthetically pleasing environment. The structures are thoughtfully positioned amidst lush gardens, enhancing the overall sense of tranquility and seclusion.

Atmosphere, Service, & Hospitality

Opting for an adults-only resort during our December 2021/January 2022 trip significantly contributed to the peaceful atmosphere we sought. The absence of children ensured a serene environment, free from the typical sounds of play, particularly during meal times. While we have nothing against children, this setting provided an added level of comfort and relaxation.

The resort’s staff exemplified professionalism and warmth, making us feel genuinely welcomed. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our needs enhanced our overall experience, reflecting the high standards of Thai hospitality.

Room Types and Features

TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort offers a diverse range of accommodations to cater to various preferences:

Deluxe – Garden Wing: The resort’s most affordable option, featuring 44 m² of space, including a balcony overlooking the pool or garden. The room is equipped with a small sofa, a convenient dresser, and a bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and separate shower stall.
Deluxe – Mountain Wing: Identical in size and amenities to the Garden Wing rooms but located at the back of the resort, offering enhanced privacy and tranquility.
Deluxe Corner – Garden Wing: Spanning 55 m², this is the largest room type, ideal for families with older children or groups of friends. It comprises a living/bedroom area and an additional bedroom, with configurations including a king-size bed plus a single bed, or a king-size bed and two single beds.
Deluxe Pool Access – Garden Wing: These 44 m² rooms offer direct access to the pool from the terrace, allowing guests to transition seamlessly from their room to the water. The layout and amenities mirror those of the Garden Wing rooms.
Deluxe Bungalow – Garden Wing: Offering 52 m² of space, these bungalows feature a large terrace and a spacious living area. The bathroom includes a freestanding bath and a shower cabin, providing a comfortable setting to enjoy the resort’s lush garden surroundings.
Deluxe Bungalow Beachfront: These bungalows provide stunning sea views and are limited in number, making early booking advisable, especially during peak seasons.

All rooms offer the choice of twin beds or a king-size bed, with the Deluxe Corner accommodating up to four guests. Each room is equipped with fast and stable wireless internet, efficient air conditioning, a TV, minibar, safe, and facilities for making tea and coffee. Additionally, a large desk and a comfortable sofa with a table enhance the room’s functionality and comfort.

Our Room: Deluxe Bungalow Beachfront

We had the pleasure of staying in the Deluxe Bungalow Beachfront, which we consider the premier choice due to its breathtaking sea views. With only 14 such bungalows on the property, we recommend booking early to secure this accommodation.

Terrace

Upon arrival, a short flight of stairs led us to a spacious terrace equipped with two deck chairs, a table with two standard chairs, and a rack for drying towels and clothes—particularly useful after a day at the beach, located less than 20 meters away. We spent considerable time on the terrace, unwinding after exploring Khao Lak and preparing for the evening.

Living area

As we stepped into our spacious beachfront bungalow, we were immediately struck by the thoughtful layout. To the right was a long wooden desk, perfect for those who may need to catch up on some work or journaling during their stay. Above it hung a large flat-screen TV, and there was ample built-in shelving for storage. On the left side of the room, we found a cozy sitting area with a small table and a bench-style sofa. Waiting for us was a welcome gift—a fruit basket with local treats and a bottle of wine. A lovely surprise from the staff, who had learned about our recent engagement. Such a warm gesture!

Minibar & Storage

At the far end of the room was a well-equipped minibar area with a kettle, cups, glasses, and complimentary tea and coffee. Next to it, a wardrobe with built-in lighting and a digital safe provided more than enough storage for our luggage and belongings. Everything was arranged to maximize convenience, and even the lighting and power outlets were perfectly placed—no fumbling around looking for switches here.

Bedroom

And then there was the bed… heavenly! A large, soft king-size bed with fluffy pillows and a mattress that hit that sweet spot between firm and plush. It’s rare to find such a comfortable bed in Thailand, and we slept incredibly well each night. To top it off, the staff had decorated the bed beautifully with towel art and flower petals. It felt like a mini honeymoon!

Bathroom

Behind a sliding door was the spacious bathroom—almost 10 m² in size. On one side stood a luxurious freestanding bathtub, while the opposite corner featured a walk-in rain shower. In the center, a wide vanity with a large mirror and plenty of counter space made it easy to get ready for the day. We were impressed by the extras: bath salts, toothbrushes, razors, a comb, and high-quality toiletries. It’s rare to see so many thoughtful details, especially in resorts at this price point.

The TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort offers not one, but five different swimming pools spread across the property. The Main Pool, located near the beach, was our personal favorite. With its Pool Bar right in the middle, it was the perfect spot for a midday dip and a refreshing drink. Sun loungers and umbrellas surrounded the pool, offering both shade and sunshine.

For those who book the Deluxe Pool Access Rooms, there are three smaller pools directly accessible from private terraces—great for guests looking for a quieter poolside experience. Hidden among the lush greenery, there’s also a fifth pool that felt like a secret hideaway. We won’t spoil the fun—go find it yourself!

Spa & Wellness

Although we didn’t book a treatment ourselves, the resort’s wellness center offers a full range of services, including Thai massages, facials, and body scrubs. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day trip or simply pamper yourself on a lazy afternoon. The gym is modern and well-equipped, with treadmills, free weights, and other workout gear to stay fit during your stay.

Other activities

Beyond swimming and spa time, the resort offers several leisure activities. There’s a cozy library in the lobby stocked with books in multiple languages, and for something a bit more active, there’s a game room with table tennis, a pool table, and table football. You can also borrow board games for a quiet night in. Whether you’re traveling as a couple or a group of friends, you won’t run out of things to do.

Food & Drinks at TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort

TUI BLUE Khao Lak Resort has two main restaurants:

Main Restaurant – Located near the beach and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a relaxed setting. The spacious outdoor terrace offers gorgeous sea views.
The Culinarium – A more refined, à la carte dining experience with both Thai and international dishes. It’s perfect for a romantic evening by the sea.

There’s also the Pool Bar, which offers a wide variety of drinks, including mocktails, cocktails, fresh coconuts, Thai iced tea, beer, and coffee.

Breakfast

Due to COVID-19 measures during our stay (late December 2021), breakfast was served à la carte rather than buffet-style. That said, the menu was varied, and portions were generous. From toast with jam and omelets loaded with toppings to yogurt with fruit and freshly brewed coffee—everything was fresh and delicious. Occasionally, the kitchen sent out the wrong item, but we didn’t mind. It just meant trying something new, and everything tasted great!

Dinner

On our final evening, we had dinner at the Culinarium, just steps away from our beachfront bungalow. We ordered a Massaman curry and Chicken Cashew, paired with two cold beers. Sitting by the sea, under the stars, with the sound of the waves in the background—it was the perfect way to end our stay.
