The perfect way to cool off
Escape the heat and dive into excitement at one of Chiang Mai’s most thrilling attractions—Grand Canyon Water Park. Located just 30 minutes from the city, this unique destination offers deep freshwater swimming, high jumps, inflatable obstacle courses, and relaxing activities for all ages. Whether you’re looking for adrenaline or a refreshing dip, this water park surrounded by towering cliffs is the perfect way to cool off in Northern Thailand.

Water adventure just outside Chiang Mai
Located in the Hang Dong district, about 20 km from Chiang Mai Old City, the Grand Canyon Water Park is a former quarry turned massive water playground. Totally different from Pai Canyon, this spot is all about fun in the water—from swimming and cliff jumping to kayaking and ziplining.
We recommend arriving early in the day for the best lighting and a quieter atmosphere—plus, it’s perfect for taking stunning morning photos of the canyon’s red cliffs and calm waters.
Activities at Grand Canyon Water Park
Despite being over 20 meters deep in some parts, the water is pleasantly cool—just what you need during Chiang Mai’s hot season. The park features:
- Cliff jumping platforms
- Zipline across the water
- Inflatable obstacle course (Wipe Out-style)
- Kayaks and rubber tubes for floating
- Wooden rafts to relax on
There’s plenty to do for kids, teens, and adventurous adults alike.

Two zones of the Grand Canyon
Area 1 – Chill & Swim
This area is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the water at your own pace:
- Swim and float freely
- Paddle in a kayak
- Jump from lower platforms
- Chill on wooden rafts or tubes
Area 2 – The Inflatable Water Park
This is where the action happens! Think giant inflatable slides, climbing walls, and bouncing platforms—just like Wipe Out. It’s a favorite for kids and adults who love a challenge (and a good laugh).

Safety at the Grand Canyon Water Park
Please note: Wearing a lifejacket is mandatory, and lifeguards are on duty throughout the park. In recent years, there have been a few tragic incidents, so safety rules are now strictly enforced. Some of the old jumping spots are closed off, but there are still plenty of places to leap from safely.
Food
Outside food is not allowed, and bags are sometimes checked. Thankfully, the on-site restaurant serves tasty Thai dishes at reasonable prices. Alternatively, eat a solid breakfast or early lunch before heading out.
