Our favorite affordable hotel in Chiang Mai’s Old Town

The Chimes, our favorite affordable hotel, is right in the middle of Chiang Mai’s famous Old Town area. You’ll find this great hotel in the southeast corner of the Old Town surrounded by a moat, the Chiang Mai Moat. The Chimes Chiang Mai is close to popular hot spots like the Chiang Mai Walking Street and the Wat Chedi Luang. From Chiang Mai’s train station and airport, you can reach the hotel by car within 15 minutes.

Looking for something tasty to eat and/or drink? In the immediate vicinity you will find plenty of trendy coffee shops, cozy bars and good restaurants such as Coconut Shell Thai Food (mmm Khao Soi). In a two-minute walk, you’re at the door of the 7-Eleven where you can go 24/7. Chiang Mai’s popular night markets such as Sunday Night Market are also nearby.

Small modern accommodation in the center of Chiang Mai

The Chimes Chiang Mai is a modern and neat hotel with a total of 14 rooms. There are three types of rooms including the smallest room, the deluxe city view of a whopping 35 m2. The largest room of 42 m2 is the ideal room for a family with child or a group of friends of three. We slept in the Deluxe Pool View room with a nice balcony. All rooms are equipped with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities and high-speed Wi-Fi connection. A hotel in Chiang Mai Old Town with a pool, and what a pool it is! The largest pool in Old Town.

This saltwater pool is surrounded with sunbeds, ideal for resting after a fun tour like the one to the Doi Inthanon or Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. The owner and staff are very friendly and were always helpful tp us. They helped us with advice on what to do in the area and gave us the names of some good restaurants in Chiang Mai. The Chimes Chiang Mai is highly recommended for a good stay in Chiang Mai Old Town!
