Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, Bangkok
In the heart of bustling Chinatown stands Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, the most important Chinese Buddhist temple in Bangkok. During Chinese festivals, it can get quite crowded here. The complex exudes a mystical atmosphere and is filled with beautiful Buddha statues displayed in glass cases throughout various rooms. The temple, built in 1871, is largely made of wood. Few tourists visit, probably because the famous Wat Traimit (the Golden Buddha) is just ten minutes away and attracts more attention. Originally, the temple was called Wat Leng Noei Yi, but King Rama V later changed it to its current name. Wat Mangkon Kamalawat means “Dragon Lotus Temple.”

Chinatown Food Night Market
Every evening around sunset, Yaowarat Road transforms into the vibrant heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown. This is where the famous Food Night Market begins—the ultimate spot for food lovers. As soon as the sun goes down, food stalls pop up everywhere, plastic tables and stools appear on the sidewalks, and countless small restaurants open their doors. In Chinatown, there’s only one thing that matters: food! Open daily from about 5 PM to midnight. Fewer food stalls on Mondays.

While it doesn’t compare to the size and buzz of Yaowarat Road or Sempeng Market, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. Open: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. How to get there: Take the MRT to Som Yot Station, exit 1. Damrong Sathit Bridge is a 1-minute walk from there.
