Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sikh Temple: Visit Bangkok’s Welcoming Little India Gem
The Sri Guru Singh Sabha Temple is located in Little India, not far from the bustling streets of Chinatown in Bangkok. Built in 1932 for the Indian Sikhs who emigrated to Thailand, the temple stands out with its striking white gate and golden domes. The interior is simple, but it’s fascinating to see a Sikh temple from the inside—quite different from the Buddhist temples you’ll find throughout Bangkok and near Chinatown.
Everyone is welcome to enter, regardless of your background. The dress code is similar to that of Thai temples: shoulders and knees should be covered. Additionally, both men and women are required to cover their heads; scarves are available for free at the entrance. Even if it feels a bit strange to just walk in, don’t worry—the people here are very welcoming and visitors are warmly received.
Every morning, anyone who wishes can enjoy a free vegetarian breakfast (usually an Indian curry). It’s a unique opportunity to experience Sikh culture up close while exploring the vibrant neighborhoods of Bangkok, including nearby Chinatown.

Open: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. How to get there: Take the MRT to Som Yot Station, exit 1. Damrong Sathit Bridge is a 1-minute walk from there.

A small hop on the map to Little India, just a 5-minute walk from Chinatown. Little India is also known as Phahurat Market. Here, you’ll mainly find flowers, colorful fabrics, clothing, and even bridal dresses. The shops are interspersed with small temples and food stalls where you can enjoy the famous Indian curries, all to the backdrop of the latest Bollywood hits. As the name suggests, Little India is not very large, but it’s definitely worth a visit for a stroll. Open: Daily from 06:30 to 17:00
