Akara Sky Hanuman is the world’s first and highest Thai immersive rooftop experience. Inspired by Hanuman’s devotion and King Rama V’s modernization, it blends Thai tradition with modern ideas. Where in Bangkok is Akara Sky Hanuman located?

Akara Sky Hanuman sits atop the One City Centre building in Bangkok’s Ploenchit area. At 275.8 meters, it’s Thailand’s tallest office building and the fifth tallest in Bangkok. The address is 548 One City Centre, 58th–61st floors, Ploenchit Road, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330.

It’s easy to get to: the building connects directly to Phloen Chit BTS station by a skywalk. For drivers, there’s a modern ticketless parking system with QR scanning and valet parking. Guests enter through the One City Centre garden, pass through the first building into the second, and take the elevator below reception.

Akara covers four floors (58–61). First-time visitors should check in at Hanuman Reception on the ground floor. Its close location to Central Embassy makes it popular with upscale visitors, tourists, and nearby hotel guests.

The rooftop bar itself

Akara Sky Hanuman is Bangkok’s second tallest rooftop bar, after Mahanakhon Skywalk. Its 61st-floor Hanuman Rooftop Garden offers stunning 360-degree views of the city, including the Chao Phraya River, temples, Sukhumvit skyline, and Siam district.

A key feature is the large Hanuman statue with projection mapping during nightly cultural shows, including traditional Thai dance and Muay Thai boxing, usually starting around 20:00.

The rooftop also has “Bangkok Reflection,” the city’s highest indoor sky-mirrored observation deck, and the Sky Night Market—the world’s first rooftop Thai night market—with old-school street games and food carts.

Architecture & Design

Akara’s rooftop bar is inside the open mouth of the white Hanuman statue, symbolizing Rama’s protective pavilion from the Ramakien epic. The statue is decorated with sparkling disco balls, mixing mythology with nightlife style.

On the 58th floor, Baan Hanuman features a semi-outdoor Thai-style courtyard, while Siam Societies offers elegant decor with Jim Thompson furniture, Tiffany-green walls, and subtle European touches.

The building has diagonal fins inspired by Thai silk weaving, which block the sun and add visual charm. This blend of mythology, craftsmanship, and modern engineering makes the venue truly iconic.

Ambiance & Atmosphere

Compared to busy spots like Mahanakhon, Akara feels more intimate but still lively. The 61st floor has a fun party vibe with a DJ and city lights, Baan Hanuman offers a romantic retreat, and Siam Societies is perfect for a calm afternoon tea.

Guests like the well-planned spaces for different moods. Cultural shows and lighting add to the immersive feel. One small downside: some found the QR-code menu a bit impersonal, though the service is excellent.

Hospitality & Service

Service is often praised for being warm and attentive. Staff help with photos, guide guests to elevators, and explain the layout, making a great first impression.

Some guests find the digital menu less personal, but the overall experience stays high-end and guest-focused. The 1,000 THB entry fee can be used as a voucher, and many payment methods are accepted.

Dining ranges from casual to gourmet. The Sky Night Market offers grilled scallops, Tom Yum Mama noodles with lobster, silkworms, mango sticky rice, and popular Thai desserts like Khanom Buang and Lookchoop.

On the 61st floor, a dome restaurant serves refined Thai seafood, including grilled lobster with rice. Baan Hanuman will soon offer Michelin-inspired pinto lunch boxes, while Siam Societies features rotating Thai desserts.

Dishes like Thai Green Curry Chicken are praised for big portions and strong flavors, boosting Akara’s food reputation.

What to drink at Akara Sky Hanuman?

Akara’s drink menu features two highlights: “Amazing Thailand” and “Sense of Thai.” “Amazing Thailand,” made with Fahbeer, is inspired by dishes like Goong Phao, Mango Sticky Rice, and Tom Kha Gai. “Sense of Thai” offers creative drinks with names like Ra Nat, Chor Muang, and Ma Lai, using local fruits and herbs.

Cocktails often come in Hanuman mugs or under smoked domes. On the 58th floor, Thai Pina Coladas and Coconut Slushies provide light, tropical drinks. One reviewer enjoyed a Pink Lady cocktail priced around 490 THB.

What did we order at Akara Sky Hanuman on December 2024?

We began our rooftop experience with Akara’s signature cocktails. First was the Tuk Tuk, a bold mix of mezcal, Thai tea, and tamarind with a smoky, sour kick. Then we tried the Floating Market—a rum cocktail with palm juice, guava, coffee, and dried fruit served in a small bamboo basket. It was intriguing and perfect for Instagram.

For starters, we shared two salads. The spicy avocado salad with strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and cashews was the standout—fresh, spicy, and well-balanced. We also had the spicy salmon salad, which was good but less memorable than the avocado.

Next, we had two sushi maki: salmon and spicy tuna. Well-rolled, fresh, and tasty—nothing new, but solid rooftop comfort food.

Dessert was a sweet finish with classic mango sticky rice and creamy Hanuman ice cream. Between bites and during the cultural shows, we tried more cocktails. The Songkran had smoky coconut cream with a candle-like scent—very unique. The Poo Phad Phong Curry cocktail had curry powder and chili oil but didn’t quite work for us.

To finish, we paired desserts with two drinks: the Mango Sticky Rice cocktail, fruity and smooth, and the Muay Thai—a bold mix of whiskey, homemade root beer, and sea salt with a strong kick.

There’s clear potential, and we’ll be back next year to see how the menu grows. With some tweaks, the rooftop’s food and drinks could match the stunning setting.
