KHAAN Thai Fine Dining Restaurant, Bangkok
Read about our KHAAN Thai Fine Dining visit in Bangkok: a perfect blend of soulful traditional flavors, modern techniques, and relaxed luxury. Enjoy an 11-course story with sustainable, local ingredients, impeccable service, and unique pairings. Located in a calm spot near Phloen Chit, KHAAN offers a fine dining experience that’s both creative and welcoming.

KHAAN Bangkok: Modern Dining with Soul, Flavor and Surprises
KHAAN Bangkok is one of those restaurants where everything just works! From the warm welcome to the small gift you receive at the end. Luxurious, but not stiff. Creative, but not complicated and above all: really, really delicious.
At KHAAN in Bangkok you don’t eat a standard tasting menu, but a story told in courses. Traditional Thai flavors, modern techniques, a zero-waste philosophy and a team that clearly enjoys what they do. This is fine dining that still feels relaxed and comfortable.

Where in Bangkok is KHAAN located?
KHAAN is located in central Bangkok, in the Phloen Chit / Chidlom neighborhood. Not on a busy road, but on a quiet side street that takes you away from the chaos of the city. After arriving in front of the amazingly cool building, as you step inside KHAAN, you enter a completely different world: warm, calm, and elegant.
If you arrive by sky train (BTS), it’s just a short walk from Chidlom or Phloen Chit. We got off at BTS Chidlom and walked there in about ten minutes. If you’re not staying near a sky train station, the easiest way to get here is by taxi, Bolt, or Grab.

Architecture and (interior)design
Even before stepping inside, the fantastic design immediately caught our attention. The building, the door, the glimpse of the kitchen.
Inside, the interior of KHAAN is instantly impressive. Lots of shades of red, burgundy, gold, white, and warm brown, with arches, curves, and symmetry everywhere. Warm and stately, but with a calm flow and plenty of space between areas.
Everything matches in terms of color, something we really appreciated. The chairs are burgundy red, the stools for your bag are too, and even the staff uniforms follow the same color palette. This creates visual calm and a very well-designed, relaxed overall atmosphere.
The tables are large — truly spacious, more than a meter by a meter — which is extremely comfortable during a tasting menu with many plates, glasses, and pairings. For pure romance it might feel slightly less intimate, but for comfort, calm, and overview it’s actually perfect.

KHAAN Bangkok’s ambiance
Thanks in part to the design, our entire visit felt calm. No rush, no stress, no noise. The background music is soft and pleasant — we even heard Jamiroquai-style tracks playing. Nice rhythm, relaxed tempo, modern and just right for dining.
The volume is spot on, something that sometimes bothers us when dining out in Thailand. At KHAAN you can simply talk normally without leaning forward or raising your voice. That sounds obvious, but unfortunately it isn’t always the case. Our visit felt social and relaxed, which immediately makes a fine dining evening more enjoyable.
The guests are mixed: couples, friends, the occasional business dinner, and like at the table next to us, a father and son celebrating a birthday. Everything blends into the same relaxed vibe. No one feels rushed, and no one feels overdressed. Just enjoying the food and each other’s company.

Service & Hospitality
From the moment you arrive, you notice it immediately: everyone greets you. Not a rehearsed trick, just genuinely friendly.
During our dinner we were mainly helped by Nong and Aommy, who perfectly balance clear explanations, personal attention, and simply letting you enjoy all the delicious dishes being served.
The service is calm, well-timed, and clear. Each dish is briefly explained, questions are answered properly, and you never feel pressured to move on to the next course. If someone doesn’t immediately know the answer to a question, they ask the kitchen team and come back with it later. Everything fits perfectly with the rhythm of the evening.
And then, at the end… you even receive two small gifts to take home. We won’t spoil what they are, but it feels like a genuine thank-you. We saw other tables receiving them too, so it seems to be part of their hospitality. A small gesture, but it brings a big smile.

Cheaf Sujira “Aom” Pongmorn
Chef Sujira “Aom” Pongmorn is the driving force behind KHAAN Thai Fine Dining in Bangkok. She transforms traditional Thai street dishes into modern, refined creations. She has been cooking since a young age, inspired by her family, and previously worked at top restaurants such as the Michelin-starred Sawaan.
At KHAAN, Chef Aom combines family traditions with local seasonal ingredients and molecular gastronomy. The 11-course menu is surprising and authentic. In 2021 she won the Michelin Thailand Young Chef Award, and KHAAN has since gained significant recognition across Asia.
Chef Aom grew up in a family of cooks and learned to cook from the age of six. After studying at the Mandarin Oriental’s OHAP program, she started her career at Lord Jim’s and further developed her skills at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin, where she learned molecular techniques from Michelin chef Henrik Yde Andersen. She later worked as Executive Chef at Issaya Siamese Club before her major breakthrough.
Her breakthrough came at Saawaan, which earned a MICHELIN star under her leadership. In 2021 she became the first Young Chef Thailand of the Michelin Guide, recognizing her as one of the country’s top emerging culinary talents.
At KHAAN, Chef Aom brings together traditional Thai flavors with modern techniques and ingredients sourced from small local farmers. Her cooking style tells the story of Thailand — personal and culturally connected.

Unique Tasting Menu
KHAAN offers a unique 11-course tasting menu that combines traditional Thai flavors with modern cooking techniques. The menu takes you on a culinary journey through different regions of Thailand, with sustainable and local ingredients at its core.
The dishes are carefully prepared with attention to detail and present familiar Thai flavors in a refined setting.
There is also a vegetarian option available, allowing everyone to enjoy this special experience. KHAAN Bangkok is known for its high quality and is recommended by the Michelin Guide, making it a popular choice for food lovers who want to discover authentic Thai cuisine in a new way.

Beverages and Pairings
At KHAAN you don’t necessarily have to choose wine. They offer a pairing option for everyone:
- Wine pairing (4 or 6 glasses)
- Tea pairing
- Juice pairing — and this was our choice. It was relatively new and surprisingly well composed.
The pairing options at KHAAN are truly a big plus. Even if you don’t drink alcohol, you still receive a full pairing experience.
Price-wise it also remains pleasant, for example 180 THB for unlimited water refills. For fine dining in Bangkok that’s very reasonable. You never get the feeling that they are trying to make money off drinks.

Our KHAAN Thai Fine Dining Restaurant experience
Our visit on January 18, 2026, was amazing. The team is extremely professional, the atmosphere very relaxed, and the food (and drinks) sublime. Each dish was beautifully presented and served with expert care. Do it—book a table and enjoy KHAAN just as we did!

Fermented Pork with Sous-Vide Egg & Crispy Pork
A powerful start. Spicy, creamy, with a nice crunch from the crispy pork. The egg is perfectly soft.

Southern Golden Thread with Marigold
Fresh, clearly acidic, delicate, with a pleasant crunch. One of our favorites of the evening. Light, playful, and perfectly balanced.

Salted Kingfish Salad with Kale
Visually perhaps the most beautiful starter. Soft fish, fresh kale, and a cracker-like crunch. Flavor is subtle, maybe slightly less outspoken, but very elegant.

Chamuang Thai Custard Cake
A texture somewhere between jelly cake and cheesecake. Lightly sweet with a small acidic note. A beautiful transition dish toward the warmer part of the menu.

SCOBY Grilled Squid
Technically very interesting, with clear fermentation acidity. The texture is a bit more challenging, somewhat chewy. More to admire than fall in love with, but definitely creative.

Andaman Tiger Prawn with Cracker
WOW-moment! Raw prawn, super fresh, slightly sweet, with a ceviche-like freshness. Served with a cracker full of prawn-head umami. The pairing was slightly sweet and balanced the acidity beautifully. Truly excellent.

Cassava Noodle “Earth & Sea”
We chose the Shogun’s Feast and the Koji Koji. The Shogun’s Feast combined Australian Tenderloin with Black Tiger Prawns, finished with a garlic butter that filled the grill with an aroma your entire neighbourhood would notice. The Koji Koji took things a step further: Kurobuta pork, Hokkaido scallops and salmon, all three prepared with a lemon butter sauce that tied everything together without anything overpowering the rest.

Tom Kha Oyster – Interactive and Playful
You eat this in stages: first the sour Tom Kha soup, then the sweet foam, then the meaty oyster. Salty, creamy, sour, and fresh all at once. It smells like Tom Kha Gai, but with oyster. A super fun dish to experience.

Palate Cleanser I – Water, Granita & Basil
Sweet and refreshing, with basil and granita shaved at the table. This is one of those dishes where you almost want to lick the plate. And the plate itself is beautiful too.

Wild or Unwild – Crocodile Tongue or Grouper
I chose the crocodile tongue. Perfectly grilled, smoky, tender, with light cracklings almost like shrimp crackers. The sweet sauce balances the fat nicely. For those who find that too adventurous, there’s grouper served on a stick. A clever and hospitable concept.

Khao Yai Duck (or Chicken) with Five-Spice Curry
The duck is beautifully cooked with crispy skin, rich in flavor, and with the typical chewiness duck should have. The five-spice curry is deep, sweet, spicy, and full of umami. The rice with ginkgo nuts and crispy bottom layer is fantastic. Asking for extra rice is allowed — and of course I did.

Palate Cleanser II – White Cocoa & Kombucha
Sour, slightly sweet, and refreshing. Perfect to reset everything before dessert.

Forget Husband Rice
v

Petit Fours
- Our favorite: Kumquat with dark chocolate
- Coconut
- Guava with salt and chili
- Cannellini components
- And playful “pebbles,” where you’re explicitly told which ones you can eat — imagine biting into a real stone.
Everything is beautifully presented, playful, and varied. It feels like a mini dessert journey of its own.

Our conclusion
For us, KHAAN is one of those restaurants that proves fine dining can also be relaxed, warm, and fun. The dishes are technically strong, without ever becoming clinical or stiff. Everything feels thoughtful, but also human.
KHAAN is not a place for “once and done,” but a restaurant you happily return to. In other words: luxurious enough for something special, yet affordable enough to repeat.
And above all: simply very, very good!
