The hotel is situated along the Chao Phraya River and provides a private boat shuttle to Sathorn Pier (BTS Saphan Taksin), offering seamless access to Bangkok’s prime attractions like Siam Paragon, Wat Pho, and the Grand Palace. Suvarnabhumi Airport is a 45-minute drive away, while Don Mueang Airport is reachable in 30 minutes.

From the moment we arrived, The Siam’s hospitality was clear. Guests are greeted with a refreshing drink and cold towel, then meet their personal butler. Ours, a friendly young man, was always reachable through LINE or WhatsApp, making our stay easy and stress-free. Even GM Nick made sure guests felt comfortable.

Designed by Bill Bensley, The Siam mixes Art Deco elegance with Thai tradition. Its open atrium, marble floors, tall palms, and curated antiques create a rich, luxurious atmosphere. Every suite and common space tells a detailed, carefully crafted story.

The art at The Siam is stunning—a curated journey through Thai history and world culture. The hotel holds over 25,000 antiques collected by the Sukosol Clapp family, including rare Buddhist relics, vintage photos, military items, ancient ceramics, and a Han Dynasty horse carriage. Every hallway, suite, and common area shares a story with handpicked pieces that show Thailand’s heritage and the family’s love for collecting. From a 16th-century Buddha statue to unique finds from across Asia, The Siam feels like a private gallery where every corner offers something new.

The Siam feels more like a private museum than a hotel. It’s peaceful, artistic, and exclusive, with just 38 rooms spread over three riverfront acres. You’re surrounded by calm, with river sounds and soft music enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.

Room types at The Siam in Bangkok

The Siam has 28 spacious suites and 10 luxurious villas. Suites range from 80 to 100 m², and villas are 130 m² with private courtyards and pools. All rooms feature fast Wi-Fi, freestanding bathtubs, HD TVs, coffee and tea makers, and daily complimentary snacks.

Our Room: The Elephant-themed Siam Suite

Living Area

We stayed in the Elephant-themed Siam Suite (80 m²). The living area was cozy, with a large sofa, mirrored walls, and a smart minibar stocked with premium coffee and daily refreshed complimentary snacks.

Bedroom

The centerpiece was a king-sized bed with luxurious linens. USB ports, a work desk, armchairs, and a large TV made the room both practical and stylish.

Bathroom

A highlight was the bright bathroom with black-and-white tiles, a freestanding tub, his-and-hers sinks set far apart (both good and bad), and separate shower and toilet.

Opium Spa & Gym

Located in the basement, the Opium Spa offers peaceful wellness treatments in a calm setting. A central lounge with a fountain creates a relaxing vibe before treatments. Next to the spa is a classic gym with modern equipment and a Muay Thai boxing ring for fitness and cultural experience.

Infinity Pool

The 23-meter riverside infinity pool is a standout at The Siam. With large loungers, poolside service offering cold water and sunscreen, and wide views of the Chao Phraya River, it’s a refreshing escape from Bangkok’s heat. Watching boats pass while cooling off is a true Siam experience.

The Vinyl & Movie Rooms

Music lovers will enjoy The Vinyl Room, a cozy space with hundreds of vintage records and a player to listen. Movie fans can book The Siam’s private Movie Room for screenings, featuring classic films and even a visit from E.T. himself.

Sak Yant Studio

Guests wanting a deeper cultural experience can visit the in-house Sak Yant Studio, where trained Ajarns offer sacred tattoos. Even if you don’t get a tattoo, the studio’s unique decor and spiritual vibe are worth seeing.

The Siam offers free cruises on the Chao Phraya River aboard its private teakwood boat. We took a sunset cruise on our first night—an unforgettable 90-minute trip past Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, and ICONSIAM. Refreshments and a personal butler made it even better. Be sure to book ahead.

Located in a restored Thai teak house, Chon Thai Restaurant offers an authentic Thai dining experience with stunning river views. The dinner menu includes classics like tom yum goong, massaman curry, and stir-fried morning glory, all made with fresh, local ingredients. The chef’s tasting menu provides a complete culinary journey, ideal for both first-time visitors and seasoned Thai food fans.

Breakfast at Chon Thai

Breakfast at The Siam is a real treat. Served à la carte at Chon Thai, the menu offers Western favorites and authentic Thai dishes. Highlights include the rich Ham & Cheese Toast with truffle honey, the Siam Bakery Basket of fresh pastries, and Thai specialties like Khao Niew Moo Yang. Fresh fruit juices and barista-style coffees complete the meal, all enjoyed with stunning riverside views.

The Story House

The Story House is a stylish, cozy spot perfect for High Tea or dinner. We loved the high tea with delicate savories like truffle egg sandwiches and crab quiche, followed by sweet treats like salted caramel chocolate tart. Dinner was just as impressive, featuring highlights like the TSH Burger and hot cinnamon donut dessert. The eclectic, artistic decor adds to the vibe.

Afternoon Tea at The Story House

Soon after settling in, we enjoyed one of the best high teas at The Story House in The Siam. Highlights were delicate truffle egg sandwiches, rich crab and gruyere quiche, and tender Peking duck wrapped in rice paper with hoisin sauce. For sweets, lemon meringue and chocolate blueberry tarts were tasty, but the soft chocolate tart with salted caramel and honeycomb was the best. Served with premium tea and warm scones with clotted cream, lemon curd, and strawberry jam, the afternoon was pure joy.

The Pier

As the sun sets, The Pier comes alive. This outdoor terrace by the river is perfect for a cocktail or nightcap. Enjoy signature drinks while watching boats pass under a glowing sky. It’s also a great spot for a light dinner or evening snack in a relaxed, breezy setting.
