Wat Ratchaburana, Ayutthaya
Wat Ratchaburana is one of Ayutthaya’s most architecturally rich temples, founded in 1424 by King Borommarachathirat II. It’s best known for its towering prang, decorated with intricate stucco work, and its underground crypt which once contained treasures and murals. The temple was built to honor the memory of two royal brothers who died in a duel for the throne. Today, visitors can descend into the crypt and climb the prang for panoramic views. Located just opposite Wat Mahathat, it’s often visited together with other nearby historical sites in the heart of Ayutthaya Historical Park.
