Wat Phra Ram, Ayutthaya: History Highlight
Built by King Ramesuan in the late 14th century, Wat Phra Ram in Ayutthaya stands beside a large pond. The temple features a tall central prang surrounded by the ruins of chedis and viharns. It was constructed on the cremation site of King Ramathibodi I, the first ruler of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Although not as famous as neighboring temples in Ayutthaya, Wat Phra Ram offers a peaceful atmosphere and fewer crowds—ideal for quiet exploration. The park-like setting makes it a pleasant place to pause between temple visits, and the views of the central prang from the nearby pond are especially picturesque.
