Wat Phra Ngam, Ayutthaya: Tree-Root Archway & Peaceful Ruins
This smaller temple in Ayutthaya is known for its peaceful vibe and a stunning photo spot: an ancient archway entwined with tree roots, creating a natural “doorway to the past.” While the ruins are minimal, the arch alone is worth a visit. It’s often overlooked, making it a tranquil detour and a favorite among photographers and travelers seeking fewer crowds. The name “Phra Ngam” translates to “beautiful Buddha,” and while the main image no longer exists, the atmosphere in Ayutthaya certainly lives up to the name. It’s located slightly northwest of the central park area.
