Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Ayutthaya: History & Sunset Views
Wat Chaiwatthanaram is one of Ayutthaya’s most striking and best-preserved temples, located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong, the temple was designed in a Khmer style to reflect the glory of the Khmer Empire. Its central prang, surrounded by smaller chedis and a gallery of Buddha images, creates a symmetrical and stunning layout. The temple is especially beautiful at sunset, and its riverside location offers a unique setting. It’s a favorite for photographers and one of the top must-sees in Ayutthaya.
